Who are some actors you've seen over the years that were hyped or seemed to be the "next big star" and it never happened? Here's a few I can think of:

Tom Everett Scott - When That Thing You Do came out, I remember the buzz being he was the "next Tom Hanks". And it never really happened.

C. Thomas Howell - Broke out in The Outsiders, had some more 80s hits, then decided to make Soul Man.

Pretty much any member of the "Brat Pack" except for Demi Moore, and I think her time has passed now.

In the 80's after Platoon, Wall Street, and Major League some people thought Charlie Sheen was going to be the greatest ever....didn't happen, he fell off. Same with Mathew Broderick.

Val Kilmer was my favorite actor in the 90's (Tombstone, The Doors, Batman, etc.) but he does crap now.

Um, Charlie Sheen is pretty much the highest paid television actor right now. I don't think he counts. He never became a huge movie star sure, but he's not doing crappy direct to dvd movies like Howell is.

Besides you're kind of missing the point. I'm not talking about guys that have fallen off, like Kilmer. I mean they never really made it big. Kilmer made it and is down now. Broderick you have more of an argument for.

Broderick has definitely made it big. He just has chosen to mostly do stage work since the debacle that was Godzilla 2000.

Chris Makepeace
James Bond, III
William Katt
Thomas F. Wilson

granted, all four have been reasonably successful, but they never achieved George Clooney-like status.

He has been slacking. Maybe he can be in the sequel to ghost

rumor has it that Lee will have a cameo in an upcoming episode of "Ghost Hunters", apparently he tries to get into the pants of one of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta", something so easy, even a ghost can do it.

Yeah, all of his voice-over work for cartoons and the occasional tv series guest appearances he has done since the Back to Future's have been amazing.

Dude, Angels in the Outfield, Camp Nowhere, Addams Family movie, Roger Rabbit, Eight Men Out. And he's won numerous Emmys for TV and voice-over work. Now he's on Broadway...C'mon man!
