1st, I support Kiffins decision not to make a move just to appease the sports writers and other people who think they know exactly what to do in the situation. Sometimes making no move is the best until everything that happened is truly known.
When Kiffin goes into recruits homes im sure one aspect he points out is a team and family atmosphere. if Kiffin just throws Edwards, Jackson, and Richardson off the team is he really acting like a family??? Simply no, if it was your family you would try and support them.

Assuming Jacksons charges are dropped or reduced to a minor misdemeanor, richardson and Edwards charges are lowered to a misdameanor

Jackson should be suspended for this game and possibly the next game and then return to the team, or a season ending suspension would be fine

Now comes the tough part, what to do with ME and NR. My idea would be to take away both players scholarship after this semester. With this both players have the option of staying in school and are also given a way of getting back on the team eventually. Say both players stay in school and make the grades, have absolutely ZERO incidents that involve the police and after 2010 consider reinstating their scholarships. With this option Kiffin and the coaches can still say they supported the kids thru a rough period in their life and gave them a second chance.

This would really show all the prospects in America that the UT coaching staff truly is behind their kids. ANYONE can stand behind a great football player when they are playing great, but a true coach stands behind them when they really need it most.

thing is that when it comes to nuke and edwards, from all reports so far, is they committed felony aggravated robbery. they shouldn't worry about being on the team... they should be concerned with making sure they don't spend the next few years of their lives in prison.

Your right, but i wouldnt be surprised to see it dropped to misdemeanor either. Even if its felony i believe the coaches should still try and support them the best they can

We will be the laughing stock if nuke or edwards ever play again, inless the victims say they were on acid and this just appeared in a vision, and didnt really happen.

If handled the right way you wouldnt be laughing stocks to people that truly matter..Im not saying they even deserve it, but it also makes you look like a laughing stock to just throw them to the curve when they screw up.

after the initial shock i became very angry and posted my thoughts on volnation. after calming down i realized that these three young men all need the support of everyone in the volnation.

jackson may still be a part of this team and that would be wonderful but im more concerned about NR and edwards because they most likely wont have school or athletics to help them through this tough time. we should all pray that whatever happens these three actually learn from their mistakes.

There is no misdemeanor robbery charge or a plea for that but the charges could be dismissed. Also they could be indicted for others charges as well, such as conspiracy. It also depends on what they told the police which we don't always hear about. I say Nuke and ME are gone and JJ will stay with a heavy punishment. I am the same as anyone in that I was hoping this was a joke, but what it comes down to is that (joke or no joke or that they used an air pistol) they commited a B felony....if it were someone else everyone would say throw them in jail.

i actually work at a jail and alot of the kids are pretty stupid these days. i can honestly say that you never see something like this unless something else was involved....its usually drugs or them robbing to buy drugs

and btw...is it a robbery charge if they didn't end up taking anything. Wouldn't that just be attempted robbery. Is that still a felony...idk.

From everything i know, it really just depends on what they decide to charge them with

Once again, unless they are looking for designer drugs... they could get whatever they wanted for free on campus. Girl already had weed, and besides... it's not like that's expensive.

I thought if you committed a felony you were automatically kicked out of school.

The big addiction drug now is Pills. Loratabs, Zanex, Oxycontin, Roxicontin. These can actually be very expensive. i know this is kind of off topic, but you can go to Florida and doctors their are giving pill heads 200-300 roxicontin at a time. street value around here on that many pills is roughly 10K.....maybe thats why we lose alot of recruits to florida also

Yes, it is still a felony. It's also "aggravated" because a weapon was involved. There's no plea that will reduce it to a misdemeanor in this instance.

Edwards might get lucky because, as I understand at the moment, he wasn't carrying the gun. With an extremely savvy lawyer he stands a very, very small chance of having his charges reduced to a "simple robbery" (a lessor felonious charge). Jackson stands to have all charges dismissed -- and Nuke, the one allegedly holding the "gun," is up a creek without a paddle.

I'm not 100% familiar with Tennessee law, so don't quote me. I hope hat can shed some insight into the discussion.

I thought it was minimum five years behind bars for armed robbery let alone getting kicked out of school. It doesnt matter what the victims say about dropping charges. They were caught red handed and it doesnt matter who represents them. Their screwed no matter what...They shoulda talked to Morley before they did it and strong armed.:shakehead: bad joke..I know

Wow, so many of the posts about this sound just like the posts from, sadly, many such incidents in the recent Tennessee past. "They're 19. They're just kids. I hope they learn from this"
Well, I hope they learn from this too. And I sincerely hope they turn their lives around. But first thing I hope they learn is that there are consequences to your actions.
And when said actions - which should make the top 20 in the "Stupidest Things College Athletes Have Done' - disrupt the team just before a critical game, hold the coaching staff, the athletic department and the whole university up to savage criticism and ridicule and jepordize what looks like a great recruiting year -- well, it's time for the hammer to fall.
Edwards and Richardson need to be kicked off the team, expelled from the university and maybe pull some jail time. And while I know the team needs Jackson, it needs something else even more. It needs its head coach, Lane Kiffin, to show no mercy. Well, not much, anyway. He has to sit out the rest of the year. No more games, no bowl game if we're lucky enough to get one after this. Next year, if he keeps his nose clean, he can be allowed to work for the privilege of wearing the Orange and White.
I don't blame the coaches, the media, the fans or anyone else for this whole mess. I blame these three grown men who were too stupid to stay out of trouble. It's on their shoulders and they should have to pay a penalty equal to the crime. And I'm sorry this turned into a novel.
