Now that the 2020 season for the SEC seems more and more likely to happen I have listed some random topics for discussion

Should we play in September

Well December 19 will give us the definitive answer. I have heard all the arguments from both sides and I have decided it IS better to play for these reasons. The players will probably be safer in this environment that out “loose” in and out of campus. Everybody knows what COVID – 19 is about and after all the players are between 18 and 22 (except Brandon Kennedy who may never leave see below) are old enough to make their own decision, they are young men not children and if they are old enough to go to Iraq then Tuscaloosa should be a breeze. Lets be straight most players harbour ambitions to play on Sundays and the coaching and showcasing on Saturdays is critical, why deny them the chance. Finally if there is a hugh outbreak one can cancel immediately. I say PLAY.

2 or 3 Deep

I suspect that during the season a number of players will be absent and its going to be a lottery when you play teams, for example its not beyond the realms of reality that
Newman and JT Daniels are both self isolating at the same time and some lucky team will catch them perfectly. On top of this teams naturally have a number of injures and without the conditioning this season, this figure may well be higher than normal. So teams with depth will have a great advantage and I believe this is the deepest Vols team for years, Pruitt should reap the benefit of all the building he has been doing.

Cade Mays

The decision to not allow him a waiver is appalling (I still have a feeling he will be on the pitch September 26). Clearly Georgia have blocked this to their shame. If you look after the kid then he WONT want to leave. But if he is not cleared he will have a really tough call to make. Given that the common consensus is that he is a 1st Rounder in the 2021 draft he would leave without pulling on a Vols shirt or does he do exactly that and play next year, with the added bonus of playing with Cooper. Given his history I think it is important to him that he becomes Vol for Life. I think he will play for us next season but quite a tough decision, possibly.

An extra year of eligibility

The consequences of this decision is multiple but the area I wish to discuss is which players will actually leave after this season and unless players have a complete breakout season then I’ve only got 4. Trey Smith, the legend that he is surely will go to make his deserved fortune. Audrey Solomon, a injury free season will show what a player he is and a high draft grade will follow. Josh Palmer, this guy has got it all and now there is no Jennings and Calloway he will have a huge year. Brandon Kennedy, if he comes back it will be year 7 that’s right seven.

Please discuss if you wish

Great thoughts well stated, as usual.. Just hope they come to fruition. I just think your thoughts may be just a little from the heart. On this side of the pond I still think fall/winter sports may be in trouble. The real problem may/will be in the exposure/infection rate of the total student bodies. If it gets as bad as it may and they shut down on campus classes and living accommodations, then sports will shut down also.

Many thanks for the comment, your right it is from the heart.

We are finding in England that whilst Covid is still contagious the death rate has recently dropped (thank god) so lets hope the virus has weakened. The transmission rate also seems to be worse indoors than outside, if this is true then as winter approaches it may be worse then than now. In short if they are going to play then get on with it, delaying to January or March does not make sense at all.

Yep,,, NO SPRING SEASON!
Over here the health people are now saying all kinds of aftereffects are showing up. They are trying every way possible to cause people to be scared to do anything normal. They speak of heart and lung aftereffects, like we don't have them with the normal flu. Oh well, time will tell. Many people I talk to say we will see this tactic go away after the election. Hummmmm

I try to stay away from politics here although here in England the media has a left wing bias any take any chance to blame the Conservatives for everything i,e, "we locked down too early", "we locked down too late", "we shouldn't lock down", "shut everything" blah blah. So I was wondering if Trump v Biden is influencing things?

After you used “on the pitch” instead of “on the field”, I had to stop reading.
Felt too soccer-ish. Credibility lost.
Blue font, just joshin...lol.

Some people see politics in everything.
They can’t just discuss an issue without knowing which party or candidate you prefer.
Difficult for people like me that refuse to discuss politics. Nobody’s business who I vote for.

If Brandon Kennedy plays at a high level, even with a cane he is welcome. Geez it seemed like Chris Leake was a thorn in our side for 10 years with the gators,

According to the SEC network, our lack of depth will hinder us this year, but we do have some depth at QB. It did take a hit tough when Hill up and left.
