Just for the remainder of the season. This can partially make up to him the way he was royally screwed over and even it up with Phil.I know Majors should have been let go just not while he was recovering from major heart by-pass surgery. That said . phil is no better than Johnny.

This is a stupid thread, and an idiotic idea, but what do you see that makes you think Fulmer shouldn't be bashed?

Why would we want to bring back a coach that we fired over 10 years ago to even take an interim position? There are plenty of superior candidates.

Yada, yada, yada about the National Championship. The fact is, the Vols won the 1998 championship IN SPITE OF Fulmer's coaching.

Why would you want to bring Majors back? I'd rather win more than 2 games this year.

Would you like Bobby Petrino? He might be out of Atlanta after one season.

Oh, he may deserve what criticism he gets...but the first post in the thread is what happens when a bammer fan gets internet service.

:)

I don't want to see Majors at HC. I don't want to see Fulmer there either any longer. Or Cutcliffe, or Chavis. Or Gruden or Cower or 90% of the other goofball suggestions. I want this current staff to bow out at the end of what will probably be a disasterous season and a new, non-majorsfulmer coach with some fresh blood and ENERGY.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd take 7 games of a pointless season and call it even.

Why not have him coach one game and bring in a bunch of Knoxville celebs for the rest.

Peyton can coach on his bye week.

Todd Helton can coach after the playoffs.

Pat Summitt, Bruce Pearl, Chris Lofton, and Al Wilson will coach the rest.

UTFTID, I know this post is in jest as Father Time has passed Johnny by, but let me tell you what would happen if JM was made interim coach. First he would send Chavis packing immediately. (Remember 1988, when his team was 0-5, he replaced a legendary defensive coordinator, Ken Donahue, and won five out of the next six games and won the SEC the following two years). Second the kick coverage and return game would become respectable, if not spectacular. Thirdly, any lineman dogging it in the fourth quarter would be riding the pines and looking for another school next year.

1976. He was at Pitt and in the midst of building a dynasty. Pitt was 1-10 four years earlier when he took over. He probably walked away from 1, maybe 2 more titles there to come back to Tennessee and resurrect our pitiful program at the time. He did just that, winning 2 SEC titles in his last three years and 3 in his last 7 (for comparison, Fulmer has won 0 in his last 9 years). As payback, our AD stabbed him in the back and we still have an abundant supply of redneck Majors bashers who still disrespect what he did for UT.

Anyone on here who thinks Fulmer could have won a National Title at UT without the work Majors did clearly doesn't understand college football. Majors rebuilt 3 programs from scratch. Fulmer inherited a great program that Majors built and slowly deteriorated it into mediocrity.

Facts are facts. Major was a better coach than Fulmer and deserves our respect as Tennessee fans.
