It's obvious to everyone that debored is kinda what we thought he'd be. Ultra conservative, unimaginative, and out of touch with the modern game. I'm afraid this will like be another good but not great year because of this. So if we go 9-4 again, Butch will retain his job but will start to feel the pressure. What if we went and offered art briles a million/yr or so to be the offensive coordinator. If he'd take the job and Butch would stay out of his way we'd be incredible.
It's not that much different from what Bama did with kiffin.

Too early to be worrying about this now. How about we just wait and see how this season plays out first?

A school that just settled a title ix lawsuit hiring a coach fired for title ix violations is not a good idea.

Can just imagine the headlines after all the mud we were dragged through over the summer

It'seems very different from what Bama did with Kiffin and I would be disgusted if UT did this.

It would be putting football above values and that is why Baylor is in the mess they are in.

Kiffin is merely a loser.

Briles looked the other way while many of his players committed terrible crimes.

We do not want Art Briles.

How about we get Kiffin to be our OC, Dooley to be our WR coach, and Fulmer to coach the Oline

I guess that's an attempt to just be an idiot but I'll reply anyway...doily was good at nothing so it makes no sense. Neither does fulmer. But bringing in a former/fired head coach that's a great offensive mind is similar to what bama did and it worked well for them. Butch is a good program leader and recruiter but a terrible X's and O's guy. He needs a great offensive coordinator. And someone like briles would fit the bill. Also mind you, it was mocked and criticized heavily when Saban signed kiffin...whom like briles left usc in shambles and had major ethics concerns

Jones believes in this offense too much to cede control to someone like Briles or make a philosophical change to a Kiffin type offense.

I don't ever see him bringing in a big name offensive coordinator.

Totally disagree. I think us doing this would be very similar.
Putting football ahead of values? Maybe a bit. But do you think a guy like Saban or Meyer would care if they faced a little criticism if it helped them win games?

Kiffin isn't that far at all from where butch started when he came here (a lot of zone run). Interestingly, the last two years we've went to more of a power/counter scheme.

I'm not sure where this thinking comes from on CMD. Last year we rushed for the second most yards in school history AND had the most balanced offense in the SEC second only to bama. Not sure how that's a bad thing. As far as closing out games, the defense has to do their part when given a 21 point lead. We scored plenty of points last year to win games and replaced the DC for a reason. If the offense has similar production to last year and the defense improves under Shoop then we will have a great year. GBO

We can blame Debord all we want, but this is Butch's offense.

This is what he wants to run. Regardless of how much talent we have at WR.

Last week I saw where Tyler Byrd was in the slot. It was a run play. Tyler did an Excellent job blocking!... but i swear, a part of my soul died looking at it. It depressed me thinking about Tyler Byrd being primarily a blocker for years to come.

You started out with bad assumptions about what "we all thought." Then you slid down into NegaVol "we're not gonna have a great year" territory, and shifted right into "the coach's seat is gonna get hooter." Finally, you concluded with the entirely idiotic suggestion that we welcome aboard a Title IX disgraced coach, mere months after escaping our own Title IX spotlight.

The stupid just piles on top of itself in this OP, at a scale that's difficult to comprehend.

Sorry, but you can't even put lipstick on this pig.

Briles is toxic at present.

sad to say we have a small school coach pretending to be a big school coach....not ready for prime time.

Hiring Briles at this juncture would be a bigger embarrassment than the Battle at Bristol that our team forgot to show up for so far

Plenty of time left in the game, but lose here and Florida becomes a must win game for Butch

Thought on execution. A new center and we go 90 yards in 4 plays. They finally made a change. It is difficult that Coleman could regress this much from a really good year last year.
