Market price is for everything. If you don't have the money or refuse to pay then your shopping the bargain ben . And it's still about the money.
Not overpaying is not bargain hunting. These guys have their own relative value in their heads, AND it is very possible that their fit elsewhere makes them more valuable there. Way too many variables to apply absolute statements when a team won’t meet or beat a guy’s number.

When you don't get the quality to beat top teams. The reason or excuse doesn't matter. You have to spend to run with the big dogs or just lay on the porch and lick your wounds.

So the ‘money was right’ for the kids we did get? How does that work? We were the highest bidder? So the current roster, like the last, is just here for the money?

And here I thought came purely to show the wbb world a thing or two about heart and hustle.
I would say most of the players we got didn't have the big time offers unless they were offering discount pricing. This could be a good team if they gel together I have no doubt they will give there all for the orange and white with that special summit blue 💙

Question remains, did they come here because of best money offer?

Truth is, we don’t actually know squat about what anyone asked, was offered or took. And we don’t know how much the program has spent or has left.

But thats never stopped us speculating before.

Of course no one knows the amount of money spent or is left. But again common sense tells you we didn't have the money or wouldn't spend the money for the top players. Most likely the donors didn't like what happened this year so they're holding back. It's just a deduction of what has taken place with the type players we signed. Check out the men's side they have big money players and low cost players. Women's not so much.

My common sense tells me we very well might’ve offered big money to major players, but they didn’t wanna come here because of the nightmare of last year and also many don’t wanna play in this dumbass system. They can get big money in many less troublesome places.

In fact, if many of the players we got didn’t require big bucks as stated earlier, then it’s likely we had plenty to offer big fish. They just didn’t bite, preferring to play for championships and stuff.

Our common sense mileage can vary.

If you dont like opposition I understand, but you don't know for a FACT to support your supposition that money is everything to everybody. Jus call me silly...oh you did...ooopsy
I agree with you about presenting an opinion as FACT. Remember having to use footnotes to support FACTS, whenever you did a term paper?

I don't like the total game she plays either but money talks weather you want to believe it or not. That trophy in the schools display case doesn't set you up for the future or buy all the things you want instead of relying on mom and dads help. I wouldn't have to like my boss as long as he wasn't a total douchy a hole for a lot more money doing the same thing.

You could be right but think my milage would get me out of town not sure you would make it to the end of the street. 🤔 95 % or more of these players aren't playing past college.

Donors are not the only ones that didnt like what happened. Going to be interesting to see what happens to season ticket sales.

Obviously, this is not a total picture as many players dealt with injuries, however even so, I don't think there are ultra significant A-T differences to when they were healthy.
Considering Eads likely redshirts or at best plays only half the season, this is quite concerning to me.

Not saying it can't work and I get the need to prioritize shooting after last year (having 4-5 girls that can shoot over 35% from 3 is admirable).

But lacking multiple SEC level posts combined with not having what I consider a true elite point spells trouble.

In order to make the tourney or be competitive at a semi-elite level, I think we need another true post (preferably 6'3 or taller) and a PG who is a pass first player
Have only checked Steele’s numbers, but they appear to be different from your graph numbers. Her last year’s numbers at Penn State were: field goal percentage .258, and 3 point percentage .095.

We play a 5 out offense. It doesn’t require an individual shot creator(pg). Any of our five players on the court should be able to initiate the offense. We do need good ball handlers that can handle pressure. It is also why height isn’t as important. We need players that are taller wings that can defend down low. Janneh is perfect for the system. I do wish we could find another player similar to her.

That's what the conversation was about we didn't have enough money to compete with the big boys. These kids will go most anywhere if the money is right. Why do you think so many players are in the portal every year and many multiple times.
Having the same money isn’t going onto coax the best players. If the $$ is similar, they are going to go where they see the best fit for success. Coming off last years debacle, I don’t see many top players coming here unless the money was substantially higher.

Players are in the portal for a variety of reasons, money being only one.

IMO, even if we could take the top 7 portal players in the nation with no strings attached, we are still not beating USCAR they are just to tall and deep and they've had the best laid at their doorstep. Just 1 player under 6 foot and these players are athletic bigs that can run & hoop. Dawn not a great coach but great at knows how to assemble a team and push their buttons which you have to have dealing with the higher egos.

I agree on Janneh and the point you make on offense however we need someone who can be a go-to post creator when we can’t get down the court and also someone who can defense the 6’4-6’5 players that an LSU, Texas, or SC can throw at you.

We play a 5 out dribble drive motion offense and close to position less basketball as we can get. People tend to be stuck in the traditional ways of doing things. Just look at the baseball forum and people calling for small ball all the time. IMO, we need to be all in on what we want to do. It doesn’t require a true pg to run the dribble drive motion offense and our system needs players with in the 6’2 range as posts. We will have to figure out how to defend taller players and the taller players will have to figure out how to guard us out to the three point line. I’m not sure it will work in the womens game but I am excited to see them try.

1-2” makes little difference when defending in the post. A 6’2” player who desires to do so can guard 6’5” as well as anyone. Sometimes better. Really big players aren’t used to someone athletic and tall who can slip around and steal the ball or elevate quickly.

We’re obviously sticking with 5 out and pressing so we do not need some big clunky center who cannot stay on the floor.

So far we've decided we don't need talent, a plan B, size, or a PG.

What could possibly go wrong?
