A Suggested Offseason To Do List For Bruce Pearl.

1. Convince Tyler Smith to overlook his own best interests and return to school.
2. Convince Wayne Chism to act in his own best interest and return to school.
3. Dismiss Josh Tabb. If a guy cares so little that he'll do something that merits being suspended for half of an NCAA Tournament, he doesn't care enough to merit a scholarship.
4. Shake up a stale, satisfied staff. Firing Jason Shay and hiring Rick Brunson sounds about right.
5. Don't waste a scholarship on Rico Pickett if you are confident in the eligibility of Daniel West. If guy who washed out at a conference rival is the answer, you need to rethink the question.
6. Steal some offensive ideas from the NBA. You have personnel that would benefit from some pro isolation sets.
7. Make it clear that guys who work in the weightroom will play. If work=minutes, you'll get more guys paying the price.
8. "Suggest" some better coaches to the sponsors of the Rocky Top League. Sales managers whose only qualifications are season tickets and having purchased the ESPN Full Court Package need not apply.
9. Fill out your nonconference schedule with teams who fit the Oklahoma State profile. Force your team to improve its perimeter defense or take some losses.
10. Scour the nation for an enforcer. The lack of toughness exhibited by this year's team should be evidence of the need for such a player.
11. Have my people call ______ and let em know I'm interested.

You make me laugh.
I'm shocked. We've gone from pathetic academia to nothing on the back of denigrating my response to your no response of a question to my original question. Seems odd that you have nothing to add to the actual topic at hand but want to debate rhetoric and methodology. Wonder what gives?

That's what his argument was, in essence. Basically,

The coaching staff is in charge of x
x was inadequate this season
Jason Shay is part of the coaching staff.
Jason Shay is inadequate.

The major premise here is that the coaching staff is in charge of x. The major premise is assumed, the rest was included and the conclusion logically follows the rest.

if x was inadequate and coach shay was in charge of x then i would also come to the conclusion that coach shay is inadequate.

Can anyone tell me another SEC team that has hada better four year run than Tennessee has? Besides Florida with two National Championships the answer is noone and we all know what has happened to them the past two seasons.

Right now, no one has had a better run except for UF, and even theirs is tainted by the Not Invited Tournament trips the last two seasons.

But plenty of teams in the history of the SEC have had a four-year run as good as, or better, than what Pearl has done. Kentucky many times, Arkansas in Nolan Richardson's heyday, Mississippi State in the 1960s, LSU had some purple patches under Dale Brown, heck, even UT had some impressive four-year stretches under Ray Mears, although he didn't credit for it because he usually finished second to UK in the one-NCAA-bid era.

What is significant about this is that UT hasn't sustained success except under Mears. Pearl has the capability to do that and I am certain he will, but what people are worried about is his ability to take us higher than that.
