don't want to take away from the excitement about coach kiffin. i'm happy with the hire, and liked everything i heard today too. so i'm on the same page.

but i can't help but react this way when i'm now, 2 hours after 1 press conference seeing posts stating we're going to be back in it............NEXT YEAR.

the 1st year turnaround just doesn't happen often, and it doesn't happen often to teams that don't have anything proven at quarterback.

anyway, for year 1 with an entirely new staff......i would consider a game post November should be considered a success, in year one.

there is a difference in program expectations and expectations for a single year.

and i just can't see in year one, us going to Florida and to Alabama, Georgia and Auburn coming up,.....that we'll be a serious contender for the SEC in 2009.

be encouraged, be excited........but please......let's try to be somewhat realistic. Hell Saban in year 1 lost to ULM and went 6-6.

ok, i'm done....continue with the celebrating!:)

So by realistic, you mean like 13-1 National Champs instead of undefeated National Champs?

Yes, but the outgoing coach as well as the new coach both said we have the talent to win next year. I agree in that we should not expect a championship next year, but there's no reason to expect we won't have a winning record next season. (7 or 8 wins).

Its gonna take a min. of 2 years to get back to where we need to be.

I would expect a 7-5 season next year.

I'm far from hoping for an SEC Title and a BCS bowl next year... but you can't hope to at least beat the Wyomings and the UCLAs on the schedule.

I am excited about his enthusiasm and potential, but I agree that its unrealistic to expect anything more than 8 wins next year. Year 2 and 3 should tell more, but also we must consider the strength of Fulmer's last few recruiting classes, who will be Seniors and Juniors in year 2.

8 may be tough, but i would agree that we should be able to squeeze 6 or 7 wins out of next year's schedule in year one and go to a bowl.

i think going to a bowl next year would be huge, just for the additional practice time they won't get this year.....


that has to be considered, these coaches won't have a real shot at evaluations until spring ball, and some of hte new recruits until fall camp.

the rest will be ongoing thru the season......both coaches and players still getting on the job training so to speak.

after the season we just went through ... Can't we just have a few hours of unimpeded excitement a, before we need to get into this?

Is that asking too much?

He already called Urban out....he is going to keep Saban out of our state. :) I think 7 wins is realistic enough

agreed, that's not unreasonable at all. do that this year and we're 7-5. do that, we're capable of i think.

I agree however... Vandy, UK, Ohio, Memphis, UCLA, Auburn and South Carolina should be wins

UGA will lose Stafford and Moreno so that's a possibility.

Ole Miss will be a tough game.

Alabama and Florida will likely be losses.

8 wins should happen and if UT can pull of an upset, UT could finish with 9 wins.

How about we meet in the middle at 7. I felt 6 wins next season would be bad even before I saw his presser due to our schedule. I hear you that we may lose one we shouldn't due to the new staff and schemes, but the schedule is weak next year. I'm hoping we can win at least 1 we're not expected to win after hearing his presser.

no, but i can't sit idly by and read some of the stuff i'm reading.....w/out saying something.

be happy. be excited. but please, if we consider ourselves and educated fan base, and i think we do, keep the expectations realistic.

that's not too much to ask. or maybe it is......i have to consider my audience........:p

Honestly, I expect to lose to Fla and Bama next year... but I do expect we will be competitive and physical and not quit and leave the stadium with our tails between our legs.

Even the 98 13-0 team needed breaks.
3 plays spread out over the season and their record is 10-3.

Its an exciting time. A few breaks who knows.......:eek:k:

But the reality is I sure feel much better today than I did a few days ago about Volunteer football!

ATTITUDE IS BACK!
