The question is this:
If you could put any SEC coach at the helm at UT, with the exception of Nick Saban, who would it be and why? (The why is important).

My intent on this post is to show that we are not so much different than any other fan base in the SEC ( with the exception of Bama).

Candidates for discussion are:

  1. Arthur Gustavo "Gus" Malzahn, III - Auburn
  2. Bret Bielema - Arkansas
  3. Jim McElwain - Florida
  4. Mark Stoops - Kentucky
  5. Ed Orgeron - LSU
  6. Dan Mullen - Mississippi State
  7. Barry Odom - Missouri
  8. Hugh Freeze - Ole Miss
  9. Will Muschamp - South Carolina
  10. Kevin Sumlin - Texas A&M
  11. Derek Mason - Vanderbilt
  12. Kirby Smart - Georgia

So now you have a chance to quit B*ching and replace our coach with any of these guys!

Dan Mullen, it's really easy to see why. He's the coach that's done the most with the least talent. Give that guy the cakewalk that is recruiting at UT and he would run circles around the SEC East.

I'll hang up and listen.

Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe too. That argument is weak. Mullen's career at Miss St is better than Butch's at UT, a school with infinitely more resources than Miss St. You crack me up

Mullen who is 21 games over .500 at MSU. Mullen who took them to #1 for the only time in program history. Please tell me how horrible a coach he is... are you honestly saying it's easier for him to recruit at MSU in the SEC West over UT?

He's competing in the toughest division in the country and is 21 games over .500 at MSU. Remember we're talking about Mississippi State.

This. He plays week in and week out in the west. Has butch beaten anyone from the west? I don't think he's ever beaten Will Muschamp let alone anyone from the west.

This all day.

I happen to LOVE what Butch has done.
Here is a fact: only 10 teams in Div. 1 power five have won 20 games in the last 3 seasons and UT is one of them. That means something to me. Life is good. Exciting even. We believe we can win that's why 4 losses a year is more frustrating that 9 wins. Support Butch before he bails on an arrogant unaporeciative fan base that he gives his all for with on and off the field results to show for it.

Since 2009, Butch is 55-35 at Cincy and UT. Mullen is 63-42 and became head coach in 2009. Please tell me how Mullen has underperformed and Butch is so much better.....

Dan Mullen of course. Hell, Hugh freeze would even be a step up from Butch Jones. You could even argue that muschamp is a better coach given he beats butch every year.

Honest question, what top program is gonna knock down Butch's door to get him away from Tennessee?
