Alright i keep on seeing everyone still having people like Davis and Gruden as possible replacements and that is just stupid. Both of them are adiment that they have no interest in UT (i dont think either of them are Saban or Petrino) so here is, in my opinion a list of realistic people for the job in no particular order:

*Mike Leach
Lane Kiffin
Brian Kelly
Will Muschamp
*Bronco Mendenhall
*Chris Petersen
Doug Marrone
Mark Dantonio
Tim Brewster
Gary Patterson
Steve Sarkisian

*= my favorites

feel free to add a realistic candidate (no gruden, cowher, davis, carrol, etc)

It isn't so much Mendenhall as it is Petersen and Leach. I can see why you would like both as they are pretty much the same hire.

Haslam would burst a vessel dealing with Leach. So his stock is lower than the common fan realizes.

Also, Leach would be leaving a program that loves him to start over. It is obvious Leach's ability focuses around the passing game. He would have to develop a passing game in a conference that strongly favors defense. It would be an awful move for both sides.

How are two radically different coaches (in personality and approach) pretty much the same hire?

Chris peterson will not be hired! He will not go over well in this bible belt if he truly is a Scientologist! Its a free country but this is a different place than NorthWest USA

i think the question is: could Coleman/Boyd run Leach's pass happy offense? I think Coleman could but he might have to make some changes for Boyd.

Why is everyone so high on Butch Davis? Has he ever won a National Championship, nope. Just wondering. Bring on a young up and coming coach, such as Kiffin or Muschamp not a retread like Davis. Just my opinion.

The point is, he took a middle of the road program and in is ninth year is finally not having middle of the road results. I don't think Leach would fix anything soon. Whoever says Leach could turn things around fast simply hasn't been paying attention to his results.

I just dont think Mendenhall would be on the short list but thats just my guess. there are so many other resumes similar to his with Closer recruiting ties to Knoxville than Utah

Not that it matters but Petersen isn't a scientologist.

Muschamp is in no way better than Davis. I like Kiffin, and hope he is hired, but he isn't better than Davis either at the moment.

Both are two coaches with minimal improvement over their predecessor living off the hype of one season.

i think Petersen's putting together a pretty good season this year (he's probably going to go to another BCS bowl). But yes, i could see how you could say that about Leach. My only worry about Leach is that he's been at TTU for 8 seasons and has had 7 medicore to bad seasons and 1 good season. And he got crushed by no other than Rick Clausen in the cotton bowl.

What hype is Kiffin living off of then? Davis rebuilt a team that had won 4 National Championships in the previous 13 years, has had 1 10 win season in his 12 years as a Head Coach, what hype is he living off of?

I believe he was talking about Petersen and Leach.
