Considering the fact that severe sanctions are a very real possibility, and none of the pie in the sky candidates like Matt Campbell would be willing to walk into that, who would be the best option to take the job?

I'd personally go with Leipold if he'd take it, but maybe punting for a year with Steele then re-grouping next year might not be a bad idea either.

Seriously, I'd take any of...

Liepold
Elliot
OBrien
Marrone
Herman
Franklin
Malzahn
Campbell
Fickell
Chadwell
Fleck
Bill Clark
Napier
Heupel
Freeze

That's everyone I can think of off the top of my head that would be takes in no particular order. Most of them will probably tell us to take a hike but I don't know which ones, so all are listed.

We don't need fans of other SEC teams lecturing us right now!

One thing that we as Tennessee fans don't want to accept is the fact that many people don't see Tennessee as a premier job.
It’s not that Tennessee isn’t a premier job. Historically it might be but that can change in the present. Currently it’s not because of the unknown NCAA sanctions and questionable administration. The waiting game to find out what the infractions result will be might be hurting us more than any actual NCAA punishment.

It’s that the tv money has made smaller football programs able to pay coaches enough to keep them around longer. HC Joe blow makes 2-3 million at a smaller school, that’s good enough for him to wait for a dream job or ideal opportunity.

Someone mentioned a coach nobody has mentioned.
I thought about it for a minute then thought dang that would be a really good pick. I know their will be alot on here that will bash it, so bash away.
#1 He took a school that was in the dumps and made them a contender.
#2 Elevated them to be added to a power 5 conference.
#3 Has never won a Natty with them but that's almost impossible when he has to recruit against, LSU, Texas.A&M, Texas, Oklahoma.
My coach I'm speaking of is Gary Patterson.
I would definetly support it if he was available.

I may be wrong, usually am but I dont think we get too hard on sanctions because the University self identified the violations, I do believe that some coaches that were here will be severely reprimanded whether right or wrong I think the coaches will get the worst end of this, we may lose some scholarships and pay some fines but I doubt we will get a bowl ban, so Im not sure that the NCAA thing will really play a factor in anything besides talking points.
