CBJ is the first real coach we have had since Fulmer. You bunch of losers/cry babies need to STFU with the CBJ can't coach/he's about to be on the hot seat/the honey moon is over. What did you guys expect to happen when we start two freshman on the o-line? Yea, I'm concerned about Mahoney's ability to recruit top o-lineman and then coach them up, but I'm also fully aware he didn't get us into the mess we are in roster wise. Yea, Mike Baj. makes some questionable calls, but I'm also not in the press box seeing what he sees. Two years from now all you guys can b**** all you want if our o-line isn't fixed, and big plays aren't being made on offense, especially in the redzone.

Try to be a little more pragmatic here. So many of you guys can't take the orange glasses off. I've been going to games since I was a kid. I was blessed to have a best friend whose parents were donors at UT and had season tickets year in and year out. I bleed orange just like everyone else here. I get piss## off too when we lose like we did today, but I also understand the talent isn't there yet. FL sucks because they are poorly coached. They have stack loads of talent. Their defensive line is unreal, and they have 2 five star CBs starting. Their LT was the number 1 LT prospect coming out of high school. Wake up guys. We don't have the talent to match that. Hurd isn't a miracle worker. Malone isn't a miracle worker. Barnett isn't a miracle worker. We have loads of great young talent, but we don't have any depth. We don't have a scat back that can make huge plays for us in the flat when teams blitz. We don't have an o-line worth a crap. Our two best TEs on our team are freshman and are still learning blocking schemes, etc. Everyone needs to take off their panties, put your big boy boxers back on, and get back on the orange train. We MUST pack Neyland every game. Every game matters! We need to win six games, and our team can't do that without all of us supporting them.

Is it possible to be "a real coach" and still not be good enough to compete at this level? Because that is what I see. I agree, he isn't the joke that Dooley was or the daddy's boy Kiffin was. There are good coaches out there who just aren't up to coaching in the SEC. Jones looks like one of them.

Thank you for being sane. God bless and Go Vols.

Define compete. Our coach nearly won against two competitive sec programs.

Why would he be looking like one of them when we're playing better than our talent/experience suggests we should? Anyone with eyes can tell we've improved leaps and bounds over last year.

You're just going to call that an excuse, I understand. Some excuses are also facts.

Hey OP...

I don't want to search for them...but, I DO KNOW...that virtually those same exact words were spoken after Fulmer's Wyoming loss...Kiffin's debacle @ Tuscaloosa...Dooley's stupidity @ LSU, Music City Bowl...etc.

Same song...different singer, if you ask me...

Wait, what?

I agree playcalling today was questionable.

But Georgia? We did put up 400 yards on Georgia... you do remember that, right?

Well said OP!

We are all hurting after another lose that we should have won.
But think about it. We are the youngest team in the nation. Playing the most freshmen. In the SEC!
And we are playing competitive football. The previous coach would have been blown out 3 games in a row by now and we all know that is a fact.

Butch Jones is a coach for real!!
We have to be patient, as a fan base. He will get it done.

About the play calling, sure not all of the plays worked, but the players have to excute them to make them work.

This lose hurts, but we are getting closer.
The Big Orange Nation is getting stronger and we are closer than we have been in years.

Firing Mike Baj. isn't the answer. Last year our QB play sucked, and our defense was slow. This year our o-line is young, our TEs are freshman, our best RB is a freshman, two of our best WRs had never played an SEC game until 2 weeks ago, and our QB gets jacked 10 plus times a game. We need a fast, small, elusive RB to compliment Hurd's power. We need our o-line to learn to run block. We could really use an athletic QB who can run some, which Dobbs, Jennings, and Dormady can all bring to the table. Mike Baj. can't call plays to throw the ball deep. He tried to screen pass the ball a lot today to set up the run. You guys want to know what a recipe for disaster is unless you have Manning at QB? Trying to set up the run by passing every game, but that's who we are with this o-line currently. We are doomed on offense no matter who calls the plays until we obtain an o-line. It's really that simple.

Okay, I'll ask, just whom do you want to be as the lead singer?

Butch and Bajakian are one and the same. It's Butch's offense. Won't change with a new playbook holder.

Well said tngivem6

Also, in my eyes, Butch gets it.

He gets how important this program is to this area of the country.

He gets how much this hurt today. People say his comments today were Dooley-esque but I disagree. Dooley was a c0cky arsehole that talked down to media and fans. That's not what I saw today.

He gets this is a business and is a results-oriented business. A piece of me wondered if the tired in his eyes at the press conference was knowing Bajakian needs to get better or he'll have to fire a guy he's worked with since 2002 (save for the two years Bajakian went to the Bears and Butch went to West Virginia).

He gets recruits. On top of being relentless and continuing to get great results despite our poor record over the last... 7... years, he's tuned in to these kids. Different jerseys, Lil Jon talking about us on Twitter, neutral-site games in Nashville in 2015, Battle at Bristol in 2016, and in Charlotte in 2018. Snapchats to 5* DT recruits. DJ in the stadium.

I'd like to think I'm able to take my orange-tinted glasses off from time to time. Today hurt. We had 3 turnovers, 3 trips to the red zone, and zero touchdowns. Unbelievably poor performance by the offense today.

But Butch just seems like the relentless, smart, savvy Coach that given some time will be able to turn us around.

My two cents.

You're right. I've been guilty of going after Bajakian letting my emotions get the best of me. I see major improvements in the offense next year. These guys just need time to develop. I think we could be scary good by 2016.

Its not Bajakian fault. When there are no running lanes, the QB cant get set to throw the football. Florida was getting pressure on Worley with just 3 guys rushing. That's bad. :banghead2:

It's not the offense it's the play calling... It sucks. Whatever color glasses you wear. We should have won today.

My 12 year old kid, who play middle school football himself said it best.

"Daddy, makes no sense in you blaming the OC and the O-line. You need to open your eyes. Its like if we took our 8th grade O-line and stuck them on the high school team and asked them to block high school seniors! Its gonna be alright! Just think how good these guys are gonna be when they are juniors and seniors and have had the same coaches for the duration of their college careers! We haven't been able to say that in a while!".

No one can put it into a better perspective than that and that my fellow VolNation is from a 12 year old kid who loves football and his VOLS as much as his daddy! Thanks son! Go VOLS!!!!!!

Play calling has been in large part defined by the capabilities/performance of the offensive line.

Sounds like your son has a good head on his shoulders. He makes more sense than most of the adults on here.
