why would he need another job? he has to be pretty well off...to answer your question: Wal-Mart greeter. I think he'd be a good one.

I agree with DEFENDTHISHOUSE. I think Fulmer is a Volunteer and nothing else. I know times are tough on Rocky Top, but for some who act like Coach Fulmer is a total buffoon is ridiculous. He's had a good run and brought UT one of it's two national titles.

Interesting question. My hunch is that he is too proud to coach somewhere else and confront that he got fired from his 'heart' school. It meshes well with his delusional assessment of his own success - or lack thereof at times. He is also an approval addict and deeply desires the acceptance of the 'people'. That's coupled with the notion that he is a pretty good guy, cares about the players, and wants to do things rights, i.e. good guy.

Thus, based on this personality, I'd say he will figure out a way to say he's coached long enough, loves the school, and while he doesn't want to coach anymore he'll stay a Tennessee guy a la Pat Dye at Auburn.

Hopefully my high school....our coach is more of a problem (if you can actually believe it), and we were supposed to be state contenders but we have ended up barely making playoffs at 5-4....playing the #1 team in state first round of playoffs next weekend. I think Fulmer/Chavis/Clawson could have us at about 7-2, not playing a beastly school first round. Maybe even pull a championship or two in every 9 years in Champaign Illinois.

If this was really true, don't you think he would have stepped down years ago. I can't think of 5 people who still want this guy as our coach and he is still our head coach. I can only hope that he is the kind of guy that you are saying and is just fulfilling his obligations as a head coach this year and will leave at years end.

Why not. He could do it for 5 years or so then retire. They'd love having a name they could get on the cheap.

I hope when his coaching days here are done he has the sense to kick back and enjoy his retirement and his family. He deserves that.
