A probable prediction

Unless he is 9 - 3 or better, in which case the fans will be rewarded.

Nope. He used his Mulligan this year though IMO he'd already used it the past 3 years. Jones has to start producing. He has to stop losing games every year that he should win. He has to start actually beating someone that he "shouldn't" beat once in a while.

Yes, because the past 2 AD's have been great at picking football coaches. This idea that a new AD should have a hand in picking the football coach is ridiculous. We have plenty of people within our University family that we would all entrust to do a good and thorough job of hiring the next football coach.

Would you take a job and willingly accept the responsibilities of the job if your authority was going to undermined from day one? How about someone else selecting employees that will fall under your direction without your consent? If not the AD acting as the administrative and legal representative for the university, then who handles the contract details - the official acceptance and responsibilities designated to the university and the prospective coach? It's one thing to inherit staff who have been around a while; it's a very different matter to have coach and AD search and negotiations happening simultaneously.

I hope this happens. I am curoius, though, if it does will Butch win back part of the fanbase that wants him out now?

Only some. There will always be the diehards who declared he was a bad choice from day one and refuse to deviate. I'd almost bet that at AL there's still an underground anti-Saban cult if you dig under enough rocks - or if they lose a couple of games.

CBJ will be here at least through the end of the 2017 season and maybe 2018 as well depending upon how next year goes. If UT wins more than 7 games next season, CBJ will be the coach in 2018

With a new AD, the only thing that will save Lyle next year is an SEC title. Anything less and Lyle is a fart in the wind. Sign it, stamp it, send it.

I agree. ADs hang their hats on big hires. If we get an ambitious AD (*cough* Blackburn), that's exactly what will happen.
