I doubt seriously Butch is ousted this year...for one main reason...the AD situation. The buyout talk is just not going to be a consideration. We don't want Dave Hart making a hire anyway!

However, I predict that he will be fired either after Florida or GA next year. They'll give Shoop the interim tag and the AD will have a season to evaluate and make a good hire. This is a now popular trend. It also gives them the opportunity to evaluate someone like a Shoop.

Now I know noone wants Shoop because his D was awful this year but it gives the university time while also giving someone an audition.

CBJ will be here at least through the end of the 2017 season and maybe 2018 as well depending upon how next year goes. If UT wins more than 7 games next season, CBJ will be the coach in 2018

If UT beats both UF/GA like this year are we talking contract extension?

Hart screwed us on the contract! Both the money part and the extension to 2020! Four year lame duck!

DAVE HART DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THE ONE MAKING THE HIRE!! Put together a coaching search committee headed up by Fulmer/Manning/Davis and whoever else you want to add. Hell let Hart be apart of it so his feeling don't get hurt and he can sit in the corner and play on the tablet.

Coming from the guy that wants to fire him mid-season next year and can't imagine a scenario where we hire a new coach because we have a lame duck AD.

Who is going to make this happen? The president, the chancellor, Dave Hart? I don't see that happening.

You would then have a new AD coming in next year who did not have a hand in picking the new football coach at a major football university. I think that is a terrible idea. The new AD should have a stake in picking the new coach. If anything, shove Hart out the door and bring in the new AD post haste.

Yes, because the past 2 AD's have been great at picking football coaches. This idea that a new AD should have a hand in picking the football coach is ridiculous. We have plenty of people within our University family that we would all entrust to do a good and thorough job of hiring the next football coach.

You know how many coaches get an extension only to be fired well before it ever gets close to the expiration? Fulmer got one less the 8 months before getting fired.

Extensions are just a "show of confidence" for recruiting and that's about it.

The real negotiation is the buy-out.

Perhaps short (selective?) memory omits the financial straights left over from Hurricane Hamilton... 'T would not be prudent to 86 Butch Jones at this juncture.

My opinion, that strategy failed miserably for LSU.

Are we just flying on auto-pilot right now? Can the damn President not step-up and show some leadership?

I could not disagree with this more. One of the main responsiblities of an AD is selecting and hiring coaches. Any leader of any orginization wants to bring in their own people to help run things, and understandibly so. Saddling a new AD with a new coach when they had no input on the hire could only lead to bad things. The AD's reputation is built around who they hire, take that decision away and no AD will want to come here.

Equally probable prediction:

After going 11 and 1, CBJ receives a 2 year extension and a $500,000 raise.

I would prefer my prediction to be the accurate one.

Get ready for a losing season in 2017, after which Butch will be canned...

every body here has an opinion so I'm gonna say what mine is. next year if jg starts at qb instead of dormandy tenn will go 10-2 and win the sec and make the playoffs barring a lot of injuries. you heard it here first.

I hope this happens. I am curoius, though, if it does will Butch win back part of the fanbase that wants him out now?

The AD's reputation is built on the health of the Ath. Dept. If the AD doesn't like the new football coach or doesn't think they can work with them, then don't apply. I would trust the knowledge and integrity of the search committee I proposed to give us a great coach that any AD would be happy to work with.

The chances of going 11-1 next year are equal to the chances of going 15-0 for the next three years: 0.

If CBJ has less than 9 wins next year and any losses are to anyone except Bama/LSU/Florida/Possible Georgia, he is gone
