A Pittsburgh perception

I agree that what GA posted are the main reasons he lost his job. Had he been able to beat Alabama with regularity, he would have been immune from interoffice politics. It's really not that hard to follow. Try to keep up.

But you also agreed the JM didnt play well with others and overplayed his hand.

I guess Majors took playcalling away from the offensive coordinator? I guess Majors himself designed the idiotic two point pass to James Stewart at the end of the South Carolina game. That Alabama loss was really disgraceful. I mean, how did the Tide finish that season? They were just awful.

This is another subject I'm sort of in a agreement with you on, except for the playcalling part... IMO, you can blame the OC more than the HC, the HC is responsible. I had a huge problem with all the flack RS caught b/c Fulmer was obviously ok with what he was doing, which was scary in it's own right, but you cant diss CPF for the playcalling while praising JM for allowing him to call those plays,\.

Simple..he brought a new fresh atmosphere to the team...much like Bruce Pearl.
It insults Bruce Pearl to be mentioned in the same sentence as Phil Fulmer. Also, this great breath of fresh air Fulmer brought with him took 4 seasons to produce an SEC title at a program that had won 2 in three years. Oh, that's right Fulmer's little glory run coincided directly with Rodney Garner's tenure in Knoxville. Another guy Fulmer happily ran out of town. How did that turn out for him?

Are you really gonna make that comparison again?

Well they arent the same of course. But you have to admit that Pearl even in his first season, with Buzz's recruits, had them playing on a whole new level. Why was he able to do that when Buzz couldnt?

Could it be a coach with higher expectations from his players?

I do agree the "fresh" attitudes brought to the respective programs are what has propelled the programs to newer heights. I will also agree that Pearl has brought the BB program a whole lot farther than Fulmer had to bring the football program.

But higher expectations will do that.

Garner = Overrated

He wore out his welcome at Auburn, did the same thing at Tennessee and nearly pulled the same trick at UGA a few years ago.

Gee, the return of the actual head coach fractured the team. Wonder how that happened?

Easy . . . Majors made a fool of himself by going public with his contract talks and created a situation where he alienated a lot of people. After that it was easy to send him packing.

Yeah, nobody wins where Rodney goes. How many titles has Fulmer won without him? None. He brings in Trooper Taylor, the K Mart version of Rodney Garner, and acts as if he's done something. The only welcome Garner wore out in Knoxville was with a petty, insecure hick of a head coach who couldn't live with people giving credit where it was deserved.

I'm sure the players were really concerned with Majors getting drunk and running his mouth at Cherokee. I remember how that was a big players hangout.

Like I said . . . he's overrated.

What part of the first sentence of my post that you quoted eluded you?

GA VOL made 3 points...you said you agreed 100% (which I took to mean you agreed with all 3 points).

But then you said if JM could have beat Bama, he would have still been at UT...failing to mention whether you agreed or not with the other 2 points...im just trying to figure out if you know that you dont know what you are talking about.

Not sure where you are coming from here, Fulmer gives a ton of praise to CJC and CDC.

Neither of whom recruited the players who got UT past Florida. However, both are rednecks who hunt, fish and golf with the hick.

I agree with you that Garner getting away was a bad move, but i dont think Fulmer "ran" him out of town out of insecurity either.

You inability to accurately paraphrase is matched only by your ability to change positions in midstream. I didn't realize Mitt Romney had joined the board.
