Oregon State head coach Mike Riley. Riley has his Oregon State team atop the Pac-10 standings with a potential Rose Bowl bid. It's Riley's second stint in Corvallis and in both stops he has revived the Beavers program.

Riley was born in Idaho and raised in Oregon. He was the head coach of the San Diego Chargers so he has NFL experience. He also understands a little bit about the SEC, playing for Bear Bryant at Alabama. Five years ago, Riley could have had the Alabama job but turned it down while an assistant coach with the New Orleans Saints. The next year he returned to Oregon State for his second stint. Reportedly, Riley's wife was not interested in moving when the Alabama job opening came about.

Rich himself wasn't willing to leave WV until they started to lie to him.

Actually his wife told him that you can go to Alabama without me and the kids if you really want to go. As far as them lying to him, it seems as if they did a lot of lying then he wouldn't have to pay back some of the money like he did. To me they would have wanted him quiet and wouldn't have made a big deal of it when he left.

You have no idea what happened in Morgantown.

I'm not saying they didn't lie to him somewhat, but some of the allegations that RR came out with were pretty out there. Him having to pay back $4 million and Michigan helping foot that bill tells me that things weren't as bad as he made them seem.

A contract is a contract regardless of who did what.

Doesn't seem like he wears the pants in his family. If he can't uproot his wife for one of the biggest jobs in College Football.

His wifen may have been an excuse. He may have had other reasons he preferred not sharing (such as replacing Bryant).

I don't think Riley would be a bad hire, but I think we can do better. If we were going to hire a 56 year old coach, I would just as soon it be Butch Davis, that is if he is even interested.

That would be a good hire. I wanted him at BAMA years ago. Cowherd thinks he is one of the best coaches in football. Not too sure how well he would do in today's SEC?

The more new names keep popping up and planes keep going in other places make me sad that I was beginning to fall for the dream team staff scenario.
