Grudenites vs Nega Dools

The Doolites has just become extincted after that Miss St game. Which side are you on?

I don't understand the attraction to Jon Gruden. The guy has no proven success in the NCAA. And I don't have the patience to endure another another rebuilding project.

I want a proven college football coach who can come in and recruit the best players in the nation and get this thing turned around in one year. I want a Nick Saban.

He is UT through and through. He can connect with recruits. He is a household name. He won a Super Bowl. How much more do u want?

I don't think this athletic department can sustain another gamble hire. He won a super bowl 10 years ago. He has the temperament of a mule. And he's been broadcasting for the past four years for a very good reason. If Jon Gruden was all he's cracked up to be, an NFL team would have come knocking a long time ago.

Like I said, I want a coach that can virtually guarantee Tennessee's success. Nick Saban turned Alabama around in 2 years. Thats the kind of coach I want for Tennessee.

I hate to tell you, but passion, integrity, and a will to win don't put dinner on the table. Gruden's career win percentage (54%) speaks for itself; he wasn't getting it done at the pro level, and I doubt it would magically happen here. Speaking anecdotally, there are very few NFL-primary coaches that I can think of as surviving on the college level.

Grudenites and Doolanders both seem to have a flair for eschewing the objective/quantitative for the sake of the subjective/qualitative. If you want to confuse one or the other (or both) of the entrenched [coach]-ites, just quote facts and numbers and watch how fast the invectives begin to fly.
