A lot of truths...(ESPN article)

In particular
Jones has put together a respectable win-loss record, but it doesn’t hold up upon closer inspection. Eleven of his 21 wins from 2013-15 came against teams that finished the season below .500. Against teams ranked in the AP poll, including this season, he’s 3-13. In the SEC, only Florida, Vanderbilt and Kentucky have fewer wins over ranked teams during that time.

I agree, if Jones can't get over the hump to gain momentum not only for the season but in recruiting as well he will ultimately fail here. Recruits will be watching Saturday, Jones can no longer sell the program without results. This Saturday will be the difference in 10-2 and 7-5.

Good gravey. Anything to nega right? I disregard Butch's first two years like they didn't happen. Simple as that. This is really year one for Butch.

Sweet mother of God.

Regardless, there is strong medicine in that article. Not everyone will want to swallow it.

It is beyond put up or shut up time for Jones and this staff. If they lose this game against UF, they will most likely lose to BAMA & A&M. UGA is winnable but I would not favor us in that game. Enough brick by brick BS, END THE DAMN STREAK PLEASE!

Stop, I dont consider myself a negavol but what you just said is down right ridiculous. This is a championship caliber team and if he doesn't get it done this year, he never will here. Plain and simple its time to put up or shut up for Butch Jones and team 120

Short, straight, and to the point. Summed it up perfectly!
All of these threads talking about playbooks, coaching, offensive line play, debating whether or not App State and Ohio are or are not cupcakes....all black noise after Saturday.
Sometime around 7:00 Saturday evening either the self-restrained lynch mobs with their pitchforks will be unleash their furor on Volnation OR the hoards of newly converted believers will sing the praises of their new found King in CBJ. Tales and fables of adventures before the new dawn will long be forgotten!! LOL
Saturday will be a rebirth for us all!!

eh. there's a little truth to this. year one was what it was. Year 2 was the first infusion of very young talent.

the last two years have, and are, presenting opportunities to change the narrative.

i don't hate the guy. and i respect what he's done, the program was a dumpster fire. he's fixed that. he's built the foundation.

he's done everything except get the results that matter.

9 game winning streak not withstanding, the reality is 0-11, 0-9, and 1-6 matter. he inherited it. and it is his job to change it.

hope he does. really do.

The only thing I disagree with from the article is that Del Rio = Sutton, Kirkland, JRM (but JRM should be able to play, right?)

Regardless, we have to win this game. I have to say, I've felt a lot of enjoyment like I thought I would this season. We lose Saturday, and Tennessee football won't be the same for me.

As a fan this is one of the biggest games of all time when we win, if the other happens it's just another game and it will be time to get ready for Ga.

As for Butch, he needs this win like no other. To lose to the dirty gators again and be responsible for 9,10,11,12, unacceptable.

He needs to get it done.

yes, JRM is gonna play.

but to your point, unfortunately, the only way we change the narrative is to win.

I think year one is an odd way to word it.
The year that counts is a good description. If we come out looking good after this year, yes I disregard all the previous seasons because of the rebuild. But we need to come out of this year with an obvious turnaround.

I agree completely with everything written in that article, but we should all be pulling like hell for Butch to win on Saturday. I don't understand the mindset of some fans that it would be better to suffer yet another humiliating loss to UF and start the program over again from scratch because of a few ugly wins. Hopefully all of the negativity and "hot seat" talk becomes moot after Saturday and we can finally enjoy having a championship-contending program again.

I don't think anyone wants us to lose the game. Even if you don't like Butch and didn't want him here, as a program we need this win.

Butch and the Vols must step up and save the house from crumbling bricks.
But rest assured, no one wants to see Butch's brick house crumble more than the Florida Gators and O'l Green teeth:crazy:

This all day long. Time to show up and earn that pay. If he wants to be a truly successful coach he has to win the big games.
