Did we lose already?! I know I drank a lot Sunday but I didn't think I'd sleep it off for 7 days and miss the game!

False! Not this year!!
You cannot take away the joy I felt on each of those nights. Plus, if you had told me at the beginning of the year that I could have a Florida and Georgia win if I sacrificed a USC and Vandy loss, I would have taken it. Just this once, though. Don't forget that Florida win wasn't just another SEC win. It was something desperately needed.
A loss to Vandy can be written off to injuries and/or overlooking them to a possible Sugar Bowl berth. A loss this year to that Florida team would have hurt for a good 12 months because it would have emphasized that fear that we are somehow cursed against that team.
Also, this is silly because we're going to beat the brakes off of Vanderbilt. This time we'll get to do it while killing their hopes at a bowl game. I can't wait!

No it doesn't...
UF had a long streak going and it was broken. That over trumps a potential Vandy loss.

Some on Volnation don't seem to take what is going on with the Vols serious at all. Cracking jokes and bashing players and coaches.

Get it together folks, for some of us it is important, maybe a little too important. I get discussing areas of improvement but for some it's like they take pleasure in our misfortune.

It's too early to say Butch can take us to the promise land and at the same time it's too early to hit the reset button.

For those that say you will either laugh or cry, stop being so emotional, it's not helping.

Go Vols!

Beat Vandy!

I long for the attitude we had before our last two coaches when UT fans didn't countenance the thought of losing to Vandy. Now that it's happened, it seems to some to be less tragic than it should be. The fact is, we should never lose to Vandy, or deem it acceptable. We most certainly shouldn't equivocate it as ok just because we beat somebody else.

Flame away. Nothing else will come close to disappointing me as much as how accepting we've become of mediocrity.

Losing to Vandy is entirely possible. Others can be in denial all they want, it won't change that Vandy is playing good football right now and UT's defense looks like the sled used in practice. I wouldn't be surprised if UT wins 28-23, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Vandy wins by that same score.

A loss to Vandy!!!

It would be catastrophic.

It would mean we degress back to the Tax Slayer Bowl, stripped of our Life Championships, against Iowa with nothing to gain. Not even a moral victory.

We need to win against Vandy, because then with our win against Tennessee Tech we clinch the State Championship

If we lose, Vandy likely gets homefield advantage VS Memphis in the Music City Bowl for the State Championship. That would be a terrible scenario. We'd be left having to pull for Vandy to win State just so we could place 2nd. If Memphis beats Vandy after Memphis wins State, then Vandy gets second by virtue of their H-H win over us.

A loss against Vandy completely offsets our GA/FL wins as we still can't win a championship.

A loss to Vandy, which is possible, and I don't think CBJ ever fully recovers. Apathy will start to set in the way it has with the men's basketball program, or when you watched that Arkansas punt returner a few years ago make UT look like The Replacements but you didn't have any reaction because you accepted UT was garbage. I know going from 5 to 7 to 9 to potentially 10 wins is a sign of progress, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed with how this season played out. 10 wins is still possible, but an 8-5 season is also a realistic possibility.

OK, it would be bad. But WTF are we doing bringing up now? Good grief, going all negative this early is just plain ridiculous.

It is in year 4 when we were picked to win the east. That's my opinion. You're entitled to yours, and welcome to cheer for average football just because we're better than we were under Dooley. However Dooley didn't give up nearly 700 yards on the ground against a 3 win East Rival. That is worse than mediocre, it's coaching malfeasance.

I've got a grip. Why can't people grasp that we want better for the program because we LOVE it too. I'm not being negative for the sake of being part of the NegaVol club. I see things about my alma mater, and it's football program that I'm concerned about.

"fact is we should never lose to Vandy"
"fact is we should never lose to BAMA"
"fact is we should never lose"

I couldn't help but have fun with my reply.

I agree with you %100 sir.

All joking aside, losing to Vandy would be catastrophic.
