I know some of you guys dont think I'm serious and Im not most of the time. I know I dont post much in the recruiting forum, thats because most of the time I can't bring any solid information, so I just post the occasional opinion I have.

I can tell you this though. It takes patience for someone to follow recruiting

I see some of you give hell to the likes of skeeter, OCI, and some of the others that bring good info, when they miss on some of the recruits. There really is no need for that. Its not their fault that the recruit changes their mind.

Its like this! Everyone of us has dated a girl before(I hope). We have all been told by that girl that she loves us and wants to be with us only. She tells us what we want to hear and we like it. Then one day you find out that she has been talking to another guy. She didnt really like you as much as you thought. Thats life, it happens, and you move on!

Similar things happen in recruiting. These guys go visit a school and they think they are in love, they tell the coaches what they want to hear. The coaches filter bits of info about the recruit. Guys like skeeter, OCI, and others pick up that info and share with us.

The recruit visits another school. That school becomes the flavor of the month. Then we hear the news and try and blame the people who gave us the info

These coaches and the guys that give us info cant control the day to day feelings of a 17 year old. This has been a constant since I started following recruiting in the early 90's.

Enjoy the inside info that these guys give us and at the same time, take it with a grain of salt. Nothing is for certain until the ink is dry.

Anyway, just my 2 cents

Well put.

The macho digital beat-down of certain posters is played out and annoying.

If you don't like info some bring then don't believe it or use the ignore button.

Good post OP. how can Skeeter and OCI know where these kids will eventually end up? Heck, the coaches rarely do most of the time.

Count, that is why I don't follow recruiting that much til Dec-Jan. Putting your hopes in the daily whims of 17 year old boys is not only a tad creepy, but its a fruitless endeavor. They're kids, and every single recruit is a potential Santos or Otha Peters. JMO

Very well put. To be fair, oci did go out on a limb last year but at the time he was pretty much completely certain. Just because it didnt happen the way he thought doesnt mean he should be blasted with autry jokes every time he posts. Most of the time all guys like skeet, jmoore, and oci say is "i like our chances" or "we should be a factor at the end" or something to that effect. People take that as "he is a silent commit, we've got him!" Then when they dont commit everyone acts like they were lied to. Its like with derrick green, just bc he is the top back and had a good visit here and will take an ov (all per skeet and others) doesnt mean he wont end up with vt or clemson or anywhere else. Just follow the situation and hope for the best.

Good post. Some of the posters have to get their rocks off slamming others. OCI and Skeeter both have given us information that is available, subject to the whims of prospects and interpretation of the staff. Nobody is perfect and if we expect perfection we will always be disappointed. I just ignore the complainers and try to be realistic in interpreting the information.

skeeter is more right than wrong and is not arrogant or pompous at all when he post his info........thats why I choose to listen to most of what he says on here.

Agreed, the only reason I follow this early in the cycle is to learn about the players in the class. A lot go to either us or other SEC schools, and I like knowing about opponents' players too.

Do you mean that 17 and 18 year old kids are fickle? I don't believe that! That's insane, Count! Do you have a link?

^ This.

The 3 amigos business wasn't about being wrong so much as it was the arrogant nature of the prediction. Most reasonable people don't really care if somebody is wrong, but when somebody arrogant and wrong, they will get flamed.

There were a ton of people wrong about the DC search, but that doesn't mean I have discounted the inside info they bring to the board. If one doesn't want to get flamed or get their feelings hurt, they need to be cognizant of how they deliver the news.

Great post. I was thinking the same thing when someone made the autry/jacobs joke in another thread. OCI and skeeter as well as others are kind enough to give us information without them we would be entirely reliant on TOS. Lighten up guys.

Exactly my line of thinking. He also doesn't speak in absolutes or make predictions, but state them as fact.

I disagree. The recruiting gurus must be able to read the minds of teenage prima donnas at all times. Anything less falls below Volnation recruiting forum standards.

Good post OP. how can Skeeter and OCI know where these kids will eventually end up? Heck, the coaches rarely do most of the time.

Further more, the kids don't even know where they'll end up. Take Dalton Santos, kid is from Texas grew up a longhorn fan but never got an offer. So what does he do? Takes the next best offer, in his mind, to come to Tennessee. At the last minute the longhorns offer and everyone is all up in arms because the kid accepts an offer to play for the team he's always loved, dream come true for him.

Every Vol fan on this board would do the same. If they were in his shoes and the teams were reversed.
