KU’s mainly playing focus on stuffing the run and make the backup newer starting QB for Missouri beat them with his arm.

He’s made some good plays (2 good throws on 3rd and long), but he doesn’t seem super comfortable out there without his run game either.

Nice throw on 4th and 3 from the 3 yard line. TD Missouri.

Kick is good this time.

After a 15 play, 7 minute drive, it’s now 21-13 KU in the 2nd.

Nice sack by Missouri. The ball came out but they couldn’t get a hand on it.

…actually no one could get a hand on it until a Kansas offensive lineman got ahold of it in his own endzone.

Safety.

21-15 KU in the 2nd.

Can’t get it in on 3rd and goal. So the kicker makes the first FG of his career.

21-18 KU with a minute left in the half.

Dang. Missouri almost scored from their own 14 while trying to run out the clock without any timeouts (turned into a 39 yard run, with the back caught from behind).

And then they almost scored again from their midfield on a 48 yard pass (the Mizzou receiver beat almost everyone going back across the field but just got forced out at the KU 2).

With 3 seconds left Missouri has to settle for the 20 yard FG, which is good.

21 all at halftime.

Mizzou has to go for it inside the KU 40 given the freshman kicker situation. It’s incomplete on 4th and 3. Turnover on downs to start the 3rd.

Kansas down to the Missouri 12 or so. Probably about to score again to retake the lead.

Edit: The Missouri 8. 4th down for KU. The drive was apparently already extended by a face mask by Missouri on 3rd and 11.

3rd and goal at the 11. Missouri completes the pass for the TD to make it 28-24 Tigers with 25 seconds left to go in the 3rd. First lead since early in the first quarter.

Honestly, if they had a non-true-freshman-starting-his-first-game-kicker they’d probably be up by 11…(or if the QB didn’t do his best Will Levis impression in the first quarter…or the defense not having committed a face mask).

Kansas has a 3 and out.

Missouri has a 3 and out at their own 45.

Mizzou punts, it’s fielded by the KU returner who slips and falls, downing himself at his own 7 yard line.

28-24 Mizzou with 12:36 left in the game.
