Butch is spot on. If you can't see the character in this team, you are focused on the wrong details. Often fans want immediate gratification but sometimes you have to gradually build to win. Support your team means supporting your team.

At the end of the first half I saw a full drink hit Tennessee players on the sidelines. It was thrown from the lower section of R and S. I would hope that person left the game. They don't deserve to enjoy a win.

Good thing Ron Artest wasn't on the sideline.

Jones needs to relax and not go all self-righteous and act like the team is being persecuted because he doesn't like being asked questions about an 11-game losing streak to your biggest rival. It comes with the territory. Deal with it. Lighten up, Butch.

So not only does Butch have to bring National Championships he must be a saint and impeccable dinner guest as well.

Maybe we should let him build the team in his own way since he is the one ultimately accountable. I'm not worried about him winning press conferences.

I agree with most of your post . . .

except this line. Patiently waiting 12 years for a win against your hated rival isn't "wanting immediate gratification" :)

Coach Jones isn't responsible for the past 11 years. He is responsible for making the rivalry competitive, given Tennessee the talent and attitude to win, the whooping Dey ass after 2nd half adjustments.

Story of this year is how we adjust and don't give up

Jones clearly wanted this game. But the players won it. He's teaching them to deal with adversity, including, when those who are in your family give up on you. Then he scolds the family for giving up. Good. Maybe he's teaching us to have character and get over our abused Vol syndrome.

I remeber someone throwing a cup at Greg Burke back in the day for missing a field goal. The replay showed the liquid splashing through the air as the cup bounced off his helmet. I felt bad for him in missing the fg but the cup was insult to injury thrown by someone who couldn't do what he did/does.

That cup came from another player. That's was one of our worst losses ever...... and it was a tie(that game changed me forever).

With a loss it would have been huge, with the win, it's just another game. TKjr called it a stepping stone.

Florida is in a downward spiral. Will they recover? Ole Butter Teeth don't know if they will.

Jones is responsible for blowing the lead last year.

Jones is responsible for losing to a 4-8 squad at home the year before that.

Jones is responsible for hiring DeBord (still don't like the hire, fite me IRL), keeping Azzani and not hiring a QB Coach. Jones is responsible for the S&C issues and the lack of focus and execution early in games where we find ourselves in a hole.

Jones should drop the righteous indignation. He's in Year 4 and, for just 30 minutes, had his team live up to their potential.

Not sure which part of Jones saying "this is about the players in that locker room and their character" is righteous indignation. He sounds like someone putting players first.

He is building a program. I don't think you get that. These kids have improved in every aspect since Jones got their. Off the field issues have been reduced, academic performance has improved, and this team adjusts and learns to win during a game even when others not on the field give up.

Troll away troll. But you can't tell me Tennessee isn't in the best place it's been in 10 years thanks to Butch investing in building men on and off the field.

I can count on you to find the negative in there somewhere
