Abernathy, especially tackling in open field.
McDowell, getting his first extended action.
Medley and Daniel
Defense in the 4th quarter.

Positives: This should serve as a wake up call.

Positives: bUTch will begin to consider playing a THROWING Q.B., so we can win. If I am an S.E.C. opponent, I load the box, to stop the run and force Dobbs to throw the ball, which he can't do. A passing q.b. will allow us to get 300 yards passing and 150 yards running per game. We have the receivers to get the 300 yards and we have Hurd & Kamara to get the 150 yards each game.

You're truly nuts if you think that the head coach is considering replacing Dobbs at quarterback at this point in the season. :pilot:

Hopefully it is a positive that we took a left hook to the head, stumbled a bit and came back strong. Might be a wake up call for the team to not expect teams to just roll over based on the pre-season hype.

The easy person to blame is the qb. Dobbs wasn't great, but the oline was awful. We couldn't run, and Dobbs was running for his life when he dropped back. Just all around terrible performance from the offense.

Postives;

Nobody got seriously hurt (although Dobbs' ribs may limit him a little in practice, and God knows the passing game needs more practice).

It's a win, and will count as such in the books.

It will humble everyone associated with UT football who have been all aboard on the hype train, which will make them actually play hungrier and more focused in my opinion.

Dobbs will not be benched. Good list OP, especially Medley. Aaron looked solid last night. Barnett should be mentioned as well, he was blowing up the edges and had some key plays in clutch moments.

Yep. Thought Abernathy played very well, and that Cortez came in and did very well too. Defense in 4th quarter was ok, nothing near what was advertised....bent but didn't break.

Positives:

Barnett went into beast mode more than a few times and got into the backfield. His pursuit was relentless.

JRM is the heart and soul of the defense. He was going lights out.

Evan Berry is still a stud at the return game.

Cam looks like he's playing for that first round draft pick.

Abernathy is going to be a beast.

There are a lot of negatives from last night, but some positive examples to build on.

Not really understanding the love for Barnett, yeah he disrupted a few plays but he missed a lot of tackles and got out of position many times along with the other ends. He is a good player but he is not the dominant force some of you make him out to be neither is Hurd or Malone. They are all good players but we lack any truly great players especially on the lines.

The secondary looks fantastic. Best one we have had in many years.

Defense as a whole looks good. Even when our offense struggles they should be able to bail us out more often than not.

This game was almost identical to the Air force game in 06. We were completely full of ourselves going into that game, and the opponent played lights out. We went on to have a good season that year, and I expect the same this year. A very beneficial wake-up call IMO.

Air Force is a good example. These games happen. I'm not worried yet. Ohio State lost game two to Virginia Tech a couple years ago and balled out the rest of the season and won a natty.

I was at that game in 2006. Justin Harrell tore his bicep and Inky Johnson's career ended. But a good comparison. Whoever had App St ranked at 45 was correct. They played well.
