1. We are a YOUNG team. There is nothing we can do about this but take our lickings and get better. They don't handle adversity very well right now because of it either.

2. Speed, we have none. We will get it, but it's going to take a few recruiting classes in order to get there. Be patient, there are good coaches here, just got to get the horses they need.

3. Simms is NOT the problem. As I watched the flow of the offensive strategy, I noticed that we didn't want Simms to get us beat. That happened in '08 with Crompton as well. Now, I'm not a coach obviously, but I'm sure the film will show them a somewhat too conservative game plan. Just as the players have to learn to deal with adversity, the coaches are going to have to learn how to scheme in order to help them out of it too. It's early in this staff's time here, I'm going to be patient before calling for all the backups to come in on a knee jerk reaction.

4. O-Line looked fairly good on run protection, but is still VERY subject on pass protection. This will get better as the season rolls along, but it's still going to be an issue this year.

5. The storm screwed us. We had all the momentum at that point, and it allowed Oregon to reset.

6. Wilcox dialed up a great scheme to help stop them, but execution and the fact that Oregon's offense rattled off plays in 21 seconds or less, had our defense gassed.

7. Depth, we have none of it either. We pretty much go from 1's to 3's. There's not anything we can do about it now, so please don't go calling for a bunch of heads because of the situation that the last 2 coaching staff's have left us in.

8. WRAP IT UP!! No, I'm not talking about safe sex, I'm talking about fundamental tackling. We had too many attempts at Eric Berry type hits tonight, and it killed up. They will work on this, but it's going to be an issue the first part of the season.

9. The crowd was FREAKING electric!! Loved the noise, but they got killed the 2nd half.

10. I hope that the detested fans that left tonight understand where we are right now, and show up next weekend. I'll be there rooting them on, win or lose. This season is going to be like this, please don't punish the team because of it. Go support them and let them know you don't want them to quit midway through the season. We have some fickle fans right now, that's for sure.

All in all, I like our performance. I'm not too enthralled about losing, but I understand where we are as a team. We had a great first half, but I think we probably over thought the second half adjustments. Still hated losing, but was so glad to see the play an actual team. We will learn from this, so be patient.

I'm having a hard time agreeing with you on #3. And I'm not in the camp that is calling for Bray yet, but Simms is most definitely the problem. He is the weakest link on the team.

You think Bray could do anything with the lack of pass protection that Simms is experiencing against actual talented teams?? Nope, so Simms is not the problem right now. If we don't give a QB time, all of them will appear to suck. That's how it works.

I pretty much agree with this, but you should have given Poole some love somewhere in there.

That does nothing to back up your statement. Bray doesn't matter. Simms just sucks. He's not an SEC-caliber QB. He'll improve, but don't expect anything out of him.

I only disagree on #3. Simms is bad. I am not a kneejerk guy, but dude is terrible. There were times he had 2-3 guys wide open and didn't see them. He CANNOT see the field. As I said on another thread, after tonight be prepared for a steady diet of 8 in the box, and pick 6s and 10 yard sacks. This guy ain't gonna cut it. And I don't blame it on the coaches, they are not responsible for what they have got to work with.

Sorry, Simms is def. part of the problem.

He's really inaccurate, stares down Receivers and throws late.

He has missed alot of open guys in 2 weeks.

Simms stares his receivers down like nobody's business. He has mediocre "touch" on his passes, and struggles with accuracy on basic throws, even with time to throw. JMO. We'll agree to disagree on this one.

And no, if I wasn't clear before, I don't think Bray is ready at all. I put some stock in our coaching staff's determination that Simms is the best option at this point.

One thing I liked was that Dooley looked thoroughly pissed at his teams play. He wasn't clapping, and patting players on the back.

I don't expect him to be a world beater man, but it's obvious the coaching staff understands he is a our best chance at success, now and in the future for now. Bray isn't an option right now, and if he becomes one, we will be even worse if he comes in and gets injured. Sucks to have no depth brother.

I also thought that some of the failed attempts at tackles tonight looked like guys trying to be Berry.

Just wondering, for those that think that Simms is part of the problem on offense tonight, who do they have that they have as much confidence in to run the offense and not try and get us beat too bad?? If you answer anything that "I don't know", your only fooling yourself.

I know there was some protection problems on some plays but there were times he just flat out sucked. And NO I do not think Bray is the answer right now. But we need to get him SOME exp. Matt Simms on his best day is probably serviceable. But I don't know if he has a best day in him.

Right now there is no good anawer. We have to take our lumps. I was hoping Simms would be able to make a few good plays. After the first two games I do not think he can. Will Bray do anything worse than that terrible pick he threw tonight.
