A few facts concerning Vols vs UAB.

Some more fun facts for UAB are that they have only played 1 team with a winning record (Western Ky) and they lost to that team. Of those teams with losing records, 2 have yet to win a game (Akron & Rice) and 2 others only have 1 win on season (Old Dominion & South Alabama).

If we play hard and up to where we have progressed we will win this game by 28+. If we go into a shell/regress this game goes into the 4th quarter and we are all very unhappy and nervous Vols.....

Blazer fan here, hope I am welcome... looking forward to our game tomorrow. I honestly have no idea what to expect, as we’ve played a pretty weak schedule and UT looks to be rolling. I’m not going in expecting a win, I honestly just want to get out of this game injury free, as we got our bigger conference games in November. At some point, I’d like to be at the point as a program where we can win games like this, but we’re not there yet.

Looking forward to hopefully a decent game, for awhile at least..... any chance y’all can turn the heaters on for tomorrow night?

I expect UAB to stand there and get their a$$ kicked.
Thanks John Beam

The Blazers are ranked fifth nationally in total defense (248.6) and haven't allowed a single opponent to score over 20 points.
Not to pile on, but; (Opponent - Conference - YPG - Rank - W/L)

Alabama State - FCA - 308 - ? - W
Akron - MAC - 275 - 128 - W
South Alabama - Sun Belt - 291 - 125 - W
Western Kentucky - C-USA - 350 - 105 - L
Rice - C-USA - 280 - 127 - W
UTSA - C-USA - 294 - 116 - W
Old Dominion - C-USA - 234 - 130 - W

Their defensive stats were built against four of the teams in the bottom ten of FBS NCAA football. As a side note; UT is Ranked at 103 with 355 yards per game right now.

I keep hearing about their schedule and finally looked it up. Their SOS is 129th out of 130 FBS teams.

Got to give them props for getting that program back going so quickly, but I don't know how you can really evaluate them at this point.

UAB has some pretty good players that are well coached and at used to winning-regardless of comp- the will prove difficult for the Vols.
Initially...

We are rolling right now! Our defense is solid and our WRs are making plays.

Should be a good game. Parah is as good as anybody we'll face a WR...

If y’all’s secondary comes to play, it’ll probably be over quick. Our QB loves the deep ball, our drives are rarely more than 5-6 plays, as we’ll either go 3 and out, or score with chunk plays. If those get shut down, we’re in a world of hurt.

Only two teams that UAB has played average over 20 points a game this season: Alabama St (23) and WKY (22.4). The seven teams that UAB have played average 17.22 points/game.

Let’s be honest, It is not like UAB has played any real scoring offenses this year.

Interesting fact about our horrendous first loss of the season. Looked at Georgia State's stats as of right now while researching UAB. They are 6-2; ranked 64th overall (1 ahead of the VOLS); with the 19th ranked offense in the country. Makes that first loss a little less stinky being as they weren't a complete cupcake like we all thought.

Never easy to truly evaluate these G5 schools, but I bet they're better than Georgia St, who barely snuck by FCS Furman, lost by 47 to a 5-4 Western Michigan team, and lost to a 2-5 Texas St team.

If this coaching staff/team overlooks UAB having after already overlooked and lost to Georgia St, then they have the common sense and self-awareness of a grapefruit. UAB is going to come into Neyland charged up - we're an SEC team, the best they'll face all year, and they know we already lost to a G5 school. They believe we're vulnerable and, hey, we are.

Look at who they've lost to. They aren't complete garbage like last year but they aren't good.

Welcome to Volnation, Blazer. As long as opposing fans are respectful, you'll mostly find us to be an accommodating group that enjoys talking football. However, opposing trolls/smack talkers are usually met with hell fire and brimstone. Again, welcome to the board and hope that both teams come away from the game injury free...and a Vols win :)

blah blah blah... blah blah blah..

That team that played against uSC was not the same that played against Ga State. Players know how to play up Pruitt's standards. Pruitt has raised his own standards. He's fighting for his players now, that was not there the first game. They won't go through the motions like they did the first game.

I may eat a little crow if UAB is with 21 points, but the eye test is telling me this won't be very close. JMO as usual.

They are ranked 16 places higher than the team everyone is stressing over in this thread and others like it. BYU is ranked 63rd BTW.
