In his column this week, Forde calls Knoxville " a well-above-average college town." Just more proof of ESPN's intense hatred of all things UT.

Yeah, but he didn't give the hiring of Lane an A+. Looks like a balancing act to me.

I sorta stopped having any faith in pat. When they had a cat on First Take that out picked him in his college bowl games two years ago.

"well-above average" How dare he not say we are way, way above average, the best ever even. The ESPN conspiracy against us continues.

wonder how many times pat had to piss on the toilet seat before he learned to raise it up

Offering factual evidence against the loonies' rants about ESPN conspiracies (and every fan base has this belief of a personal vendetta against their school by ESPN) is like tossing pearls before swine.

Our former head football coach had a whole day on ESPN this summer. Pearl has gotten tons of face time in the last two years. I can't think of another school that has gotten as much spotlight time in that respect in the last couple of years, for two major sports. And then there is the Lady Vols pumping, which is more understandable due to their place in women's basketball.

The ESPN conspiracy stuff is total crap.

Then he blew it by telling everyone to eat at Calhouns.

I found a chat while searching for this article where "Josh from Knoxville" chides Forde for recommending their barbecue..but says the beans are good there. He responds by saying he likes Calhoun's barbecue even if it's not the best in America, "Glad you like the beans." I laughed.

Go back some years(having personal problems and can't recollect when) and think ESPN doesn't like us. They tried to pull the school down with allegations of players cheating. An ex-teacher or someone told them and they jumped in with both feet before checking it out. The school was exonerated. ESPN never will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:censored:

This has only been recently. Still, the color commentators constantly gushing over the opposing teams, Tennesse might as well not be playing because you won't heare much about TN. Then there is a constant love fest with USC and OSU; and that is only on the football side of things. Now, I have been checking ESPN during the hiring of our coaches. Many other schools would have gotten tons of attention especially with the coaches we have brought in. But NO, ESPN would rather talk about the University of Washington and their recruiting.

So, no, I don't think that ESPN is conspiring against the VOLS, they just won't talk about them.

That is what's known as being damned with faint praise.
Not a favorable remark from Mr. Forde. Isn't he a KY fan?

ESPN is just like any news source: They thrive on the story that sells. Let's be honest. Tennessee Football hasn't put itself in a position to sell in quite some time.

Pearl is making us get a lot of hoops attention and Pat always has the ladies representing too. I think we'll start seeing some more airtime for football as King Kiffin gets us back on track.

The reason the media gushes over teams like USC are because they are good. UT has been mediocre and undisciplined. When was the last time you saw USC or FLA commit back to back False Starts.

Ridgewood BBQ in Piney Flats (just outside Bristol)....the only thing that bugs me about ESPN is the love fest that they have with all things Tebow, USC, and OSU. Well I guess they also haven't mentioned ANYTHING about our coaching staff, other than Lane. Even then they were saying it was a horrible choice.
