This is a reminder to myself. We don't know if Pruitt is any good, much less "great". We don't know how good WVU is, or is not. I'm going to tell myself all season that we have to appreciate where we are going. The only "line in the sand" I'll draw this season, is a loss to Vandy. There is no excuse for losing to Vandy. Outside of that, I have to be patient and enjoy watching the games.

I don't think I can handle a loss to Florida. Ugh... I think we can beat them but it's gonna be a close game. If we get blown out I don't think I can show my face in public cause all the gator fans down here know I bleed orange. Oh boy.

That being said, win or lose I'll still wear all my Vols accessories to work after the game.

Progress.

That is my tempered expectation going forward.

Beat UF or go away. We need a coach that can finally consistently beat them.

I'm in the same boat. It's not looking good this year

We also know that WVU's defense was 106th last year as well, 25 spots higher than UT, and that in spite of having the ball for 21 minutes of the first half, we were only able to score 7 points.

That's bad, but trying to score real quick plays into the hands of WVU.

So you think it was Pruitt's game plan, to sit on the ball as much as possible, but score as few points as we could?

Yes, obviously that was the plan.

What's the point in trying to string three plays as fast as you can when you're facing an offense that can score at will?

I disagree. I have zero doubt about Pruitt, zero. May wind up being wrong, but after hearing him in last night’s postgame presser and on The Jeremy Pruitt Show this morning, I’m convinced he’s gonna be very, very good here. Not perfect, not infallible like the last a-hole claimed to be....but very, very good. He’s gonna win here imo...gonna be a year two or three imo, but he’ll win a lot of games here.

Just to throw my useless .02 into this...I think the game plan was absolutely to make it a low scoring dog fight. Sort of the way that muschamp beat us in 2014. It was working until the third quarter when we got into an Oregon style gunslinging contest which we clearly didn’t have the tools to keep up.

I will add Kentucky. I have said before that it should be written into all contracts that if you lose to either Vandy or Kentucky it is grounds for firing with cause.

I watched Vandy play MTSU sat. night. They seem to be the same team who beat our doors off last year.Their defense is probably the weakness. Shurmur is one of the better QB's in the league. We have to be better than them to beat them. Our Vols that I saw sat. are at least yet, not good enough.JMO.
