So I'm watching ESPN's College Football Live show tonight as they cover the state of Arizona. In the intro to the show they talk about how the state of Arizona is world renowned for the Grand Canyon, as they show a picture not of the Grand Canyon, but Sedona. What freaking morons!

They backed up that disgraceful performance by pronouncing Jake Plummer, Mr. INT himself, as the greatest player ever from the state of Arizona. What a freaking joke!:eek:lol:

eh, Peyton isn't from Tennessee. Also, if I'm not mistaken weren't all these "greatest" voted on by fans?

It's voted on by the fans as the show airs. This was their so-called analysts' pick. Randall McDaniel was BY FAR a better player than Plummer. So is Tedy Bruschi for that matter.

no, they have sportsnation polling leading up to the show. fwiw, Jake Plummer won the fans vote too.

and I just watched a video about Peyton the other day on ESPN and they talked about him being Tennessee's "adopted" son.

You know....Considering all of the ranting about this network. At some point, we have to take responsibility for actually watching ESPN outside of the days when we are actually playing on ESPN.

That doesn't make it right. Plummer sucked. He was exceptionally overrated. I recall having an argument with one of my friends during Plummer's second year in the NFL. I stated that Plummer sucked. My friend stated flatly that Plummer would go down in history as a better player than Peyton Manning. :eek:hmy: My friend has since conceded defeat.

The most amazing part of this show to me was that with a professional staff as large as that at ESPN, not one freaking person at the entire network pointed out they were misidentifying the Grand Canyon. As Clark stated in the movie Vacation, "It's only the biggest *******ned hole in the world." I guess should be used to the total lack of professional journalism displayed by ESPN, but this one still made me shake my head.

They may start it prior to the show, but during the show they specifically stated that you could go vote for the best player from the state of Arizona in the poll on ESPN.com.

so while the majority of people feel Jake Plummer is the best athlete in Arizona history, it's not right? interesting.

Correct. First of all, it's the best football player, not the best athlete. Second of all, come back and talk to me when Jake Plummer is named a starter in 12 Pro Bowls (he was an alternate in 2 Pro Bowls), and he is voted to both the College Football Hall of Fame and the NFL Hall of Fame.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randall_McDaniel\

The general public is full of sheep. Most people only watch the flashy positions like quarterback. Plummer isn't even worthy of discussion as being a better player than McDaniel.

If I'm building a team tomorrow and have my choice of any player in NFL, AFL, or AAFC history, Randall McDaniel is on the short list for interior linemen.

Jake Plummer would be somewhere between Eric Hipple and Timm Rosenbach.

The amount of time I spend watching ESPN has dropped off drastically in the last few years. The only non-sporting event I watch on there is College Gameday, and even that I tend to record and fast forward through some of the crappy segments.
