Bama pays their S&C coach 600K. We are paying ours 60K.

Tennessee is paying 10x less for the most important coach on the field.

80% of Bama's roster is composed of 4 and 5 star players . 80% of our roster is composed of 3 star players . On top of that you add in the fact Saban has assembled one of the best coaching staffs in the country . We'll never be able to be on their level until the cycle is changed .

Very, very inaccurate. Our roster is not 80 percent 3 stars.

According to rivals and only counting players still on the team and using CBJ 3 full classes 14,15, and 16 this is the star breakdown.

5*=7
4*=26
3*=24
2*=2

So 56 percent of the signees still on the team are 4 or 5 stars.

Taking the same recruiting years at bama, I didn't look to see who left the team but their is attrition at all schools, so a lot of these players may not be on the roster.

5*=14
4*=36
3*=21
2*=2

68 percent are 4 or 5 star.

The difference is we don't have a staff that can develop players

Would still be a 7-10 point underdog to Bama in Neyland. Add in the injuries and you get what happened on Saturday.

They have recruited better than anyone in football for years and they have the best staff ever assembled.

They are better. It sucks but it is true. There is only one Saban and he is the best to ever put on a headset.

Blaming Jones or Debord is just an emotional response.

That is completely not true!

And I know because I won my team 8 team fantasy football league last year, and only 3 of the teams were inactive. I also crush all my friends at Madden on X-box.

Although I've never actually played football on a team I have all the proof I need to ascertain that both Butch & Debord should be fired. Like last Saturday I said we should roll the pocket and let Dobb's complete passes down the field. One of my idiot friends tried to tell me something like with back-up tackles getting dominated at the edge and Alabama's closing speed Dobbs wouldn't live through the game if we tried to pull the guards.

I'm sure you can all see how much of an idiot my friends is. I said Debord needs to ROLL the pocket and he is talking about PULLING!! Can't my idiot friend see that just because he actually played football doesn't mean he knows more than me? It's his vanilla decisions like that why I always beat him at Madden. Instead of talking about offensive line intricacies and cohesiveness he should just learn to be more aggressive. I don't know why I even bother with that friend. He doesn't even have 10,000 posts on a message board talking about strategy.

If Butch and Debord keep wasting time insisting on their outdated sense of building fundamentals and winning one-on-one matchups while we change the culture of our program we're always gonna be second fiddle. You can't blame losing on an injured line and talk about one-on-one matchups. Clearly a compotent OC would think winning five-on-five matchups to compensate. Do you really think I'd dominate at my X-box and my fantasy leagues if I worried about backups and what offensive linemen actually do?

I'm not being emotional when I say Butch and Debord should have been fired by now. Their outdated philosophies can't keep up with the modern game.

See, its my ability to analyze and be logical that has brought me to the sensible conclusion that they should be fired. If I weren't so logical and analytical I never would have won that checkers tournament we had over our lunch breaks at work the last two weeks. Speaking of winning at checkers I've noticed that guy Bobby Fischer was way overrated. ....

Saban can watch film and see the opponents weaknesses. He also has the top players to take advantage of a teams weakness and get a win. Recruiting, executing, game plan...... That is all it is....

Yep Saban gets the best players every year so it shouldn't be any surprise that they're good.

This continuing notion that ANY CFB team can compete with the worst of the NFL is a joke I can't believe people truly believe.

There was an ESPN Ohio poll where over 50% of the state voted that the Buckeyes would beat the Browns. This is just lunacy. Not OSU nor Bama would beat a single NFL team. The Browns are an entire roster of pro players. Other than the New England game they have lost by just a few points to every team they have played.

They do not suck.

Cleveland would beat Alabama by 40+. Jalen Hurts is a true freshmen. He is NOT going to tear through a professional defense. Get over yourselves and this idiocy.
Agree. it's comparable to those who believe the lady Vols could beat the men's team.

The Cleveland Browns would be up 40 points by halftime against Bama

This comparison aways amazes me. After the question come up talking heads will ask former nfl players what they think. Everyone one of them laugh and says that the worst nfl team could pick the score against the best college team. As good as Alabama is half of them will not play in the nfl. For goodness sake, Henry won the heisman last year and cant even start in the nfl.

We have the coaches CBJ wants. He handpicked them based on his personal preferences, not budget. UT paid what it took to hire Shoop, and UT will pay to upgrade S&C and OC personnel, if CBJ chooses to do so. So far he has not.

We have entered a new era. The "cycle" doesn't exist anymore. Bear Bryant's son's bank and other wealthy boosters have seen to that. When the best recruits look at where to play DivI CFB, they really do care who can "coach them up" to get the highest $$$$ in the highest round. Anything else is just bad business. We just lost a 5* receiver who might could have performed to expectations of we truly had "the best staff in America" like CBJ wanted when he came here. Thing is, Tennessee's movers and shakers won't pay for it.

If you do a total of the salaries and extra benefits paid to all Alabama's coaching staff and compare that to Tennessee's coaches salaries; it's not even close. Until the movers and shakers of Volunteer football decide to step up to the upper echelon of SEC salaries for every single coach, coordinator, and position coach and institute a major financial push to offer competitive salaries to the best in America, we will always be competing for the east title, hoping to win but seldom ever taking the SEC CG, and rarely getting in the CFP.

We don't need to spend millions and millions on the proposed stadium renovations hoping to make more money selling "improved" seating at this time. Maintenance, yes.

We need to take the surplus and establish a coaches salary account, or fund, or whatever makes the most stable system moving forward; second to none, not even Alabama. Then, when we see a coach-anywhere, that we want..for any position..HC, OC, DC, all positions or strength...anything, we make an offer that's very, very hard to refuse. Stadium renovations will be easy after that.
