I wish there was an emoticon for a sarcastic shocked face. I'd use it now.

About what we expected except maybe the defense number. We all expected more from a Wilcox-led unit. Even though he was defending against weaker competition with lesser talent, we felt like he would get a tight group to play over their heads. It is gonna be 2012 before our team will live up to out fanbase's expectation.

GO VOLS!!

it seems innovative offense (or gimmick offense as you call it) DOES work at collegiate level. all top 11 teams in total offense use it and seems to move the chain pretty well.

Pretty ugly. Once we get through the softer part of our schedule we will move closer to the middle of the pack.

I wouldn't count on that. Ole Miss and UK will give our defense fits.

I thought Boise State runs a fairly normal offense.

Either way, that list is outdated and a lot of those teams have losses. Michigan is no longer undefeated. That awesome offense of theirs scored a whopping 17 points last week. It's only going to get worse as other teams figure it out.

When Florida had time to prepare for Oklahoma's record setting offense, they scored 14 points.

When Iowa had time to prepare for Georgia Tech's unstoppable running game, they had 155 total yards.

I would be happy to win throughout the season using a gimmick offense but if the ultimate goal is to win a championship, it's probably not going to happen. Most of that stuff will get shut down when a team has a month to prepare for it going into a bowl game.

We need to give this staff time to get their guys in place and allow the offense to mature. This is Simms first year learning the playbook and the offensive line is filled is full of freshman.

We'll see.

Games aren't played on paper. If they were, Patriots would have lit the Giants up.

#103 Punt Returns
#98 Kickoff Returns
#101 Sacks
#119 Sacks Allowed

If not for the UAB game we could at least take solace in the fact that the numbers are so bad because we have a bad team in the SEC and we have played three top ten teams. However, since UAB lit this team up, I'm going to say that the numbers aren't too far off. We are fielding a bad CUSA team in the SEC. Take away the UT-Martin game and I don't even want to see the numbers.

Those are some pretty sobering stats. UT may be the underdog in every game left except Memphis.

We'll be better over time.

But man, how painful is that #119 in sacks allowed? Everyone hating on Simms needs to realize he's got literally nothing in front of him blocking D-linemen.
