Before everyone goes crazy about all the "improvement" UT is making, take into account that those numbers represent opponents' total offense vs. what the Vols have gained the last two weeks. I like the effort yesterday, but let's not act like LSU didn't dominate the game. Turnovers and Les Miles are the only things that kept the score close.

Agreed. LSU has a ton of talent, but Les Miles may have been the only one who could make that game close.

64-33

The first number is total people on the travel squad.

The second number is the number of people making their first road trip to play for UT.

Numbers, numbers everywhere.

While I see your point, we are all well aware that we are not that good. But I do see the improvement in effort.

Pretty good game for an outmanned team between the first and last (two) play(s). I was afraid we'd get smacked around more than we did.

It's incredibly obvious that we have played 3 better opponents, thank you for pointing that out.

But a lot of other comparable teams to ours would have folded a lot quicker than we have and you have to respect that.

UAB's better? They outgained UT 544-287.

i think you want us to get spanked every week.

Meaningless.

We would have won BOTH games if not somehow finding a way to extricate Les Miles from a bucket of stupid (why subsititute when the other team is confused / imploding before your eyes?). Plenty of bend don't break defensive philosophies yield those results.

There is no doubt the current Big 3 are doing their OJT on the UT sidelines. I'm not happy about it, but I'm going to continue to support these guys through thick and thin. If they can go bowling this year, it will be a tremendous accomplishment by these kids and coaches after a loss like that. I hope these kids don't turn on the coaches, because they cost them this game.

I do not really say much on here and I really think hatvol has some good perspective on a lot of things, but hatvol has to be one of the biggest downers on this site for someone claiming to be a true fan.

We out gained Alabama last year. Clearly we should have been national champions because of this stat alone.

Oh wait, the whole game matters

ONLY TURNOVERS?!?!!?!?!

Are you kidding me? That is A HUGE thing t pass off as a non issue. We out played LSU in almost every aspect of the game. We shut down Peterson on special teams, we made stops and got turn overs when we needed them on defense. And made big plays on offense in the 4th, i.e. Hunters big catch and Poole's 20 yard run.

The least-experienced offensive line in the conference, a marginally talented qb, a first year starter at rb, and a #1 receiver playing with a cast on his hand didn't turn the ball over against a very good defense. Conversely, a defense with 1 true tackle, a 5'9" walk-on starting a middle linebacker, and a wr starting at cornerback forced 4 turnovers against a poorly coached, but very talented offense. These guys are making progress. They haven't turned the ball over in two games, and some of the talented freshmen are starting to get more comfortable and make plays.

Yeah, keep getting outgained about 2-1 and see how many games you win. For someone that babbles contstantly about "data", you haven't the foggiest grasp of it.

lets give our D a little credit yesterday, yes they played a bad Offense, but they got the turnovers. And really like the way our O looked when we was trying to actually win he game verses not loose it, makes you wonder.

We outgained Alabama 2-1 and turned the ball over four times? If so, you might have a point. As it is, your post is typically useless.

We may not have dominated them, but we outplayed them, IMO. That kicking display was unreal.

True, I'm starting to build up a large collection myself.

Quickdraw, and now Hat... Why are some people going full retard?
Yeah, what am I thinking? I need to jump on the Big Orange Idiot Boat where getting pushed all over the field and outgained 2-1 constitutes progress.

I don't agree with hat at all times, but I love how he gets some of the fan based fired up. If everyone agreed on this site, it wouldn't be insightfull or entertaining at all at times.
