8 Vols assistants reject UT pay cut to help with losses due to covid

Yes, THAT team. The team that is paying you a ridiculous amount of money to be a glorified PE teacher. THAT team they gave you an opportunity to have the nicest facilities, best Fanbase in America, and every possible advantage you could have to win. And we aren’t. So getting canned is exactly what they deserve.
Pretty bold and decisive with other peoples lives. What % of UT loss of funds is the 8 salary cut? Any figures? You know they have a boss that is paid millions to supervise them.

You mean to do what is morally right? I’m not sure what’s so difficult about this. Is it right to TEMPORARILY willingly forgo excess money in order to help someone else retain their job? Or to CHOOSE your excess while a DESERVING person loses their job? What is wrong with you all? Am I alone in seeing this!?!?!?! Sweet Lord what has our country come to!?
"Excess money" is extinct and you don't have the market cornered on perspectives....sheesh.

I read they tried to cut 1.6 million total and without these 8 decreases, it ended up 1.3 million.

THATS MY POINT!!!!!! They have enough and are GUARANTEED to be taken care of no matter what!!! So, why not take a small cut to help others!?!?!
The biggest point your missing on your moral amd ethical stance is that the people you assume would retain thier jobs due to the accepted pay cut would stay employed...but common sense says for example that if a typical gameday employees 300 people at full capacity but now your only allowed 30% of that capacity...unfortunately those people lose thier job regardless of the coaching pay cuts...so just like most liberal ideas, they sound altruistic but in reality don't work out

Excess money ABSOLUTELY exists. And apparently I’ve got it cornered on rational perspectives on THIS thread. So disappointed in what I’m hearing.

You are blind man. You don’t have to cut if coaches will help! Don’t be blind. Choose to be better.
Why shouldn't the unnecessary workers that can be cut without detriment to the organization sacrifice for these coaches to continue being paid as promised? The assistant coaches were made a promise, not the at-will employees.

Lots of people could have benefited from that additional $. I’m NOT a socialist, millennial, or anything. Just see it for what it is...no love for UT or it’s other employees.

Because those “unnecessary people” live on a fraction of what coaches do. Again, ITS A PANDEMIC and not anyone’s fault!!!

Again, it’s not just gameday employees. You know that right!? A liberal idea is to SAY you wanna help the less fortunate, but saying someone else needs to pay, not you. And say it from your 3rd homes 2nd patio outdoor kitchen.

Why does your quote say "unnecessary people" when I wrote "unnecessary workers"? That makes it not a quote and a bit unethical on your part.

Workers are people. People are workers. Right? Maybe I should’ve used brackets. Your problem is you don’t see the WORKERS as PEOPLE

Gameday was an expample..hence why I said example...
Apply it to any low level positions with in UT that has a restriction on due the plandemic...all woulf have been released from employment regardless due to lack of need....ie. you dont need 10 janitors to clean 3 classrooms when 1 can do it.....dont need 5 mowers...when 2 can do it....dont need 45 cooks in the cafeteria when your serving 50 kids...it the need for the employees are no longer there why would the university keep them?? So they feel better??

At your job..if your only allowed to sell 50% of what you normally do, your telling me your company is not gonna downsize on then people under you???

No, it is their fault that they are in an employment position where they can be displaced first when there is a business requirement to reduce staff. By the way, once they are gone, similar levels of employees take over consolidated work tasks to remain employed, or higher paid workers add duties of the lower level employees. Higher level employees are often capable of completing tasks of lower level employees, while the opposite is typically not the case.
