I think that's right, Ivan.

The saving grace for us (fingers crossed) is that our young DBs have had most of a season to grow into SEC-caliber backs. We might be ready for the passing attacks of Kyle Shurmur and Drew Locke now--we weren't at the outset of this campaign.

And if our DBs are stout enough to hold serve against those fellas in man coverage, that gives our front seven more opportunity to stop the run and get after the QB.

Maybe...just maybe...we can pull out a win or two in the games that remain.

This is true and I would add at the risk of heresy we have to play “complimentary” football. I think our defense is good enough to defend both Missou and Vandy. However, our D is not deep, especially up front, so to keep from having another SCAR 4th quarter meltdown, the offense HAS to avoid 3 and outs. The O doesn’t have to score to have a successful possession. 3 first downs with a punt inside the 15 and 5 minutes off the clock is a wonderful thing. Keep the D fresh so they can play hard in the final stanza and we can win out if we get a few breaks and play clean football.

Also, I believe we were the only team that UK has played this year to hold Terry Wilson to negative rush yards. Who would have ever thought that?
