7+(?) future NFL QBs we played in 2018

I know the defense struggled much of the year but, we played against potentially 7+ NFL caliber QBs. Just sayin'

I was looking at a site WalterFootball.com and noted that we played against 5 of the Top 20 QB prospects for the 2019 draft. I added Tua and Fromm to the list to make potentially 7 future NFL QB's. Don't know much about Franks but, he's the perfect size and know he can chunk it a long way.

2. Drew Lock - MO
6. Jarrett Stidham - AUB
7. Will Grier - WV
14. Kyle Shurmur - Vandy
18. Jake Bentley - SC
Future:
Tua ?
Fromm ?
Franks ? He's the perfect size

There were 13 QBs selected in the 2018 draft and I don't know how many got on teams as undrafted Free Agents.

I don't see the NFL in Bentley's future.

Franks might carve out a pro job, but not as a QB. He is more of a great athlete. Perhaps a future Matt Jones.

I agree regarding Bentley. I think Shurmur is right on the edge. He may be a last round guy or a UFA. I'd be surprised to see him make a regular reason roster, but you never know. He looked pretty dang good against the Volunteers.

Yes, I agree. Shurmur is right on the fringe. He had a great game against us on Saturday, but overall, he is too inconsistent.

I've been meaning to point out that Missouri is losing Lock next year. Vanderbilt is losing Shermer who, for whatever reason, plays like Payton Manning against us. Kentucky was very senior-heavy this year, so they're losing a bunch of players. I don't know if Pruitt and this team will bounce back next year, but the east may be in a good position for them to do it... maybe not to the top, but away from the bottom where we are now.

Out of all those guys I'd guess maybe 1 or 2 have productive NFL careers and maybe not even that many. Not that it matters, they were very good in college for the most part which is a vastly different game than the NFL.

Actually every player we played against this year will be drafted.....all of them. Our competition was just that good and we are just that bad. Could you imagine how bad it would have been if we had an ordinary coach and not a superhuman?

My guess is Grier and Lock get looked at in the 1st round because the NFL always reaches for QBs.

Tua could be a top 5 guy eventually.

I think the rest of those guys except for Franks end up mid to late rounds and likely back ups.

I always thought Driskel was pretty good. Saw him play in the Army All American game one year.

Never understood why he washed out at GatorLand

Franks has grit. He's not afraid of contact. Physically he is tall and strong. He can throw the ball forever and he can throw a rope of a pass.

His shortcoming is mental. He takes too long to process what he sees and react calmly. He has gotten better. And he's only a sophomore. So it's possible he will improve further.

It's just been my observation that they either have that skill set, or they don't. I don't recall it suddenly showing up for someone.
