6 reasons Dobbs is the draft's best sleeper QB pick

Antonio Brown fell to the 6th round and JJ Watt transferred to Wisconsin cause Butch Jones didn't think he could play defensive end.

Why so you guys keep defending Butch Jones when it is abudantly clear he is only good at wasting talent?

I don't believe KB is exactly famous for defending Jones.
Otoh, he does a hell of a job pointing out the level of absurdity in your unbelievably flawed logic.
And ftr, Dobbs had sec offers from Miss State and Arkansas. Jones was the only coach from a traditional SEC power to see the potential. He was able to look past the consistency long ball issue.

Despite your revisionist history, 90% of posters on this board that questioned Dobbs NFL capabilities said "only because of that issue and if he developed that part of his game, he would be successful"

Guess what? Despite your thread bashing Josh, he actually did develop extremely well in his consistency with the deep throws.

Now say it with me... Josh Dobbs developed from no meaningful SEC offers to a top 1,2,3 round draft pick while at Tennessee.
This isn't your absolute bullshat version of reality, this is actual reality.

I know he "fell" to the 6th Rd, but it wasn't because he didn't have great production in college in Jones' offense.

I suppose the argument is that, under a "real" coach, Brown would have had 400 catches for 4K yards and 30tds...or something else just as nonsensical.

Being drafted early and being successful are 2 different things. Teams reach on QBs every single year. Im still in the camp that says Dobbs wont be able to make the throws he needs to be able to make. This is the same guy that couldnt consistently throw an accurate screen pass and every time he dropped back you held your breath and hoped he just took off running.

Could he get better? Yes, he got better every year at UT, but I have still seen nothing that leads me to believe he has an NFL arm as far as accuracy.

K-town, I don't believe that we have seen the best of JD. However, he has to play better than he did here. I just don't want to hear about his draft position from the particular poster that will do just that......the same one that has been a fan for two years and said JD sucked.

I'd like to see Dobbs do research on M-W, Developmental Testing on Th-FR, File aerospace patents on Sat and win on Sundays!

He is super smart.. which matters at Thr QB position

I'm not trying to be a negavol but even though he is probably the most intelligent and academically smart, it doesn't mean it always translates to a high football IQ.

Now with that being said, it means he has the mental capacity and cognitive skills to become a student of the game like Peyton. If you ever watch Peyton, as soon as the offensive series was over, he was looking at coverages and studying on the sideline. It wasn't Manning's mind that caused his horrible last year, it was his body failing him. Him not being able to make the same throws he once could.

The question isn't Dobbs's talent, it's the question of can he fix his problem areas, transition, and become a student of the game. That's why I am adament about him sitting and learning from an experienced NFL QB. I try to stay realistic because Daks/Wilsons aren't that common. Too many youn players crash and burn before they have the chance to reach their ceiling.

I wasn't holding my breath every time he dropped back to pass this past year. He had some amazing throws all throughout the season, look at the bombs he threw against App State, VT, UF, UGA, etc... Pretty much every game outside of 1 or 2. And that was without a QB coach while simultaneously being swamped with an extraordinarily difficult college curriculum. Like you said, he's gotten better every year and he'll only continue to do so now that he actually has time to focus solely on football.
