I can actually agree with Florida and LSU being good.

Brian Kelly has done nothing but win. He just knows how to. With the portal rebuilds are faster, as we saw with our own team last year. They'll have plenty of talent and they will be bought in year one. Brian Kelly will have them playing competently.

With Florida...they still have a lot of guys that almost beat Alabama and easily out paced us. They literally gave up and didn't try at all towards the end of the year. Napier will have them bought in. They'll play hard. Richardson is really good I think. He will play better because he's not looking over his shoulder.

We also know teams like LSU and Florida NEVER EVER EVER have down games/seasons when we play them, Heupel is going to have to EARN those.

Both of those teams will probably play absolutely flawless. No turnovers, great gameplan, nobody will be out injured for them and we are just going to have to prove we are better.

Where as UK and USCjr are just overrated and we will have no issues proving we are better than them and even if it's close they'll just do something stupid, turn the ball over, have injury problems etc.

FL is the game that makes or breaks our season. Pitt is a "Nice to Have" win.
If we beat Pitt, we can survive a loss against UF and still have a very good season. If we lose to Pitt and UF, some of our fans will be on suicide watch. If you ask me if I would rather beat UF than Pitt--He!! yeah! However, Pitt on the road is a bigger test than UF at home in 2022.

The ESPN power ranking has 6 of the 2022 opponents listed in their top 25.
We, of course, did not make the list.
It appears they think we will have a 3-5 conference record. Plus a loss to Pitt, which surprised me with how high they were ranked.

Mostly true. But, is he a cultural fit? Louisiana is like a 3rd world country--not even remotely like any place in the U.S. Not sure a strong disciplinarian like Brian Kelly is a cultural fit. He could lose this team. He'll have to do a hell of a selling job to get them at the top. Just think of the LSU stars that were instrumental in their best seasons: OBJ, The "Honey Badger", Jamarcus Russell. Do any of you think those guys could play for Kelly? I don't. If Kelly doesn't produce immediately, the fans will descend on him like a vulture diving at a gut wagon. They are by far the most demonstrative fans of college football on the planet. If the fans turn on him, the job will be that much tougher. If Kelly pulls it off, he'll be king of the state for life,...................... or until he has a 8 win season, whichever ends first!

It baffles me how UK gets ranked ahead of us yet we beat them. Our offense was much better than theirs and they lose quite a bit. Pitt loses a first round QB and they still get ranked that high? Miami??? This list is a joke.

I can understand the ranking because it is before we have attacked the transfer portal. We are all assuming the roster will be improved soon from the portal but if its not then our defense will be really bad.

I’m way more comfortable being overlooked and underrated , than being raked highly and having to worry with more teams that we are just expected to beat . I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts , I don’t think we will get to much longer .

They ranked Pitt in the top 10. Now if the ranking includes difficulty of schedule then maybe. UK? UT just beat them at UK with a depleted roster in Heupel's first year after playing Ole Miss and Bama and looking forward to UGA the next week.

MSU? Serious. You mean the MSU that lost to Memphis and was blown out by TTU? Between them and UK you can have one but not both. The winner of their match up might be a top 25 team. The other likely will not. It is far more likely that neither is a top 25 team than both are.

UF? I guess as a UT fan we need to beat them before dismissing them... but they just don't look that good and could have more depth issues than the Vols.

Season hasn't started. Not everyone is on campus. Rosters will change.

Nobody has a clue yet!

I'll take being overlooked. Not a problem. If we underachieve, only we know it. If we overachieve, they can suck it BIG TIME.
Let's just bide our time.

Didn't Pitt lose their QB and a boatload of other "super seniors"?

Yes, I know they got Slovis at QB via transfer, but he was pretty inconsistent at USC. Some of the other ACC teams are also going to make the Pac12 schedule he is used to seem like a fantasy.

Bottom line-I think Slovis will do OK overall, but doesn't have the singular talent to make Pitt anything more than a middling ACC team this year. Combined with all their other talent losses, I'm just not sold on Pitt at all this year.
