5 Million Dollar Man - Mack Brown

He's not worth that much. But if I named Muschamp coach in waiting I'd probably try to keep the current guy as long as possible, too.

Were they worried about him leaving for another school? I don't see the point in this raise unless they were afraid of losing him.

I don't recall the exact number but Texas football brings in 10's of millions more in revenue annually than the second highest school. He deserves it from that standpoint alone.

I don't think he is going anywhere, for a while. Short of a Bowden type situation.

Not saying he stays that long, but 5 to 10 yrs. would not surprise me.

They hooked WM on that "coach in waiting" deal. He is making good for a DC, but he could already have his own gig, by now.

Heck, I wouldn't go anywhere either with a 5 mil salary and a guaranteed 100k a year raise...and incentives....

These salaries are getting astronomical. No reason to jump to the NFL when you can make NFL money in college.

Apparently texas' revenues from football have quadrupled since Mack took over in '97-'98. From ~$21 million to ~$86 mil annually. So from that standpoint, he's paid for his salary many times over. Whats more, he's made being a texas fan cool around here... wasn't always the case, well, at least when Mack started.

Love him or hate him, he's done a good job. But I'd like to see the Vols take the horns place... the programs have been on an inverse path since '98, crossing paths during the 2001 season.

That can't be market for that clown.

I would agree with that 100%, no one else would pay him $5 mil per. However, they didn't give him that contract to stay put, that was a given at $3 mil, his old contract. The new numbers stink of hubris and have more to do with program ego.

I'm looking for 'bama to bring the over-inflated ego of their fanbase down a few pegs.

lol. I was shocked to see Mack get a bump from 3 to 5. Those details must of been worked out when they thought he "might" flirt with the ND job. Either way, haha @ that.
