At least for the the first season.

Coaches around these losses first season seem to stick around and have improvement.

If we end up having more losses (7 or more) ,than we might be looking for a new coach in year 3 or we need to lower our expectations.

If we end up with 4 or less , we have ourselves a GEM and we should keep them regardless of Conference Play OR we know we can hire another GEM.

I did a little researching on some Coaches and their first seasons.

Lets start with TN Coaches post-Fulmer

Kiffin - (7-6)
Dooley - (6-7)
Butch - (5-7)

A few coaches in the SEC

Smart - (8-5) GEORGIA
Saban (8-4) LSU, (7-6) BAMA
Mullen (5-7) MISS. ST
Muschamp (7-6) FLORIDA, (6-7) SOUTH CAROLINA
Mason (3-9) VANDY
Malzahn (12-2) AUBURN

Noteable Coaches
Fisher - (10-2) FSU
Urban - (10-2) UTAH, (9-3) FLORIDA, (12-0) OHIO ST.
Spurrier (9-2) FLORIDA, (7-5) SOUTH CAROLINA
McElwain - (10-4) FLORIDA
Sumlin (10-2) TXAM
Miles (11-2) LSU

Once again the UTAD has the fans coming up with not so creative ways to justify BS results. You're close though. With this specific schedule exactly 5 losses would be justifiable. 6 means you've lost to at least one team from the lower half of the conference. But your list of notable coaches is instructive. Only Spurrier had 5 at SC, which was commendable at the time. Do you think this staff had Spurrier-level achievement in them? I don't, but maybe they will.

Most or some have been fired, also, a few walked into a pile of talent, so, comparing is not a static reality within CFB. Too many variables, I could find more thing wrong within this group than right........some of these coaches were down right lucky. Let Pruitt coach, the first 2 years, based on what you have posted shouldn't be a predictor of the future, based on your examples.

There are really 2 different reasons of some of the firings on this list.
1. They were a mediocre coach to begin with
2. The fan base had higher expectations by year 4-5

At this point we need some major luck for 6 wins. Obviously Pruitt will be responsible for some of the outcome, but overall the hole is so deep we need to keep things in perspective about what he can really control Year 1.

6 losses will be a blessing for this year with our current roster. Year 2 will really tell the tale along with incoming recruits.

If we get lucky against Texas 'Intercept' El Paso, I can see 3 wins as our stretch goal.
