I'm calling upon you here on VN to help me figure this out.

The OL under Mahoney has almost perpetually underachieved. The only time we've seen improvement is when we play a weaker team, and their DL often gets the better of our OL anyway, or when we insert a TRUE FRESHMAN or 2 halfway through the year. How can putting true freshmen into the OL ahead of juniors and seniors possibly result in a better OL? A 5* in Drew Richmond had a RS year, and yet he struggles almost the entire year, even against App St and Ohio. I've heard he may better suited to be a guard, but either way he shouldn't be inept at LT right? We have very talented OLmen even in 3*s that are just not getting it, and this has been going on for the entire time Mahoney has been here. I believe even his first year here, with 5 NFL players on the OL, they regressed from the year before in terms of both pass pro and run blocking. Do I just not understand the nuances of OL development and performance, or is Mahoney the worst coach on our staff??

This guy has to go. I am sure he and Butch are close but at this point his job is on the line. He has been a huge detriment to our team consistently during his time here.

1. Fire Mahoney

2. Put the O-linemen in cages. Poke them with sticks until they come out with a most disagreeable disposition.

3. Win.

You're delusional if you want Gillespie fired. Also Stripling and Scott need to stay.

They comlained about Azzani then this year our WR's improve a lot. So it was his fault but give him no credit for this year. They circular reason everything just because they like a revolving door for coaches.

The OL unit is the one that requires the most cohesion and team work. When we are constantly changing the rotation due to injuries and experimentation, the cohesion is certainly disrupted and is part of the problem we've seen this year.

Having said that, I agree that we have under performed and I'm also perplexed by the lack of quality players at each position. I believe we have not recruited well enough in this area. All of this obviously falls on Mahoney.

It was nice when we had CPF and constantly had a strong OL. I definitely took that for granted.

Yeah I like Azzanni, but I know a lot don't. I still have my doubts on him being the "passing game coordinator" whatever that means. I thought all the WR improved this year, minus Josh Smith.

IMO.... Stripling is WAAAAY overrated. Without Barnett and Tuttle, who else has made any improvement? McK? Phillips? Kongbo? No. No. and NO.

Oh, yeah... what about the Juco, Johnson? Piccou?

So long, Strip. Throw bags of money to bring Dan Brooks back to The Hill.

Mahoney has to go. Yes, oline is a unit that requires continuity and as many reps together as possible. However, he has had more than enough time to prove his worth. There is talent there, they just need to properly molded and coached. I said after last year that this year would be the judgment making time, and he did not produce. He and Martinez are the 2 that HAVE to go. RG and Thig are the 2 that HAVE to stay. Anybody else can be replaced.

I'm pretty indifferent to most of our other position coaches, im fine with azzani and thig. But I think stripling is alrite, he recruits pretty well i think, and the last couple years he's had underrated guys like Danny O'B and owen williams perform well. Not sure what to make of the secondary, maybe we should move on from martinez, but it's hard to say. Definitely need to hang onto CRG.

We need to keep Gillespie

I could never afford the kind of drugs that you are on but they seem like a lot of fun.

Make the case for Shoop's performance this year then. Of course you're gonna fall back on injuries.....keep in mind that even Brent Hubbs called the injuries excuse this year as an explanation for the defensive performance under Shoop a "cop out". But go ahead, let's hear it......

I think the Oline being soft is kind of a product of this system. Not a fan..

Shoop had nothing to work with in the middle of the defense by the end of the year. Still we lined up in that 4-2-5 anyway. So if anything it was a stubbornness to change. Same with Butch.
