What is a successful career for a 4/5 star player and what would make you consider them a bust?

A 5 star will need to be a 3-year starter and be drafted in the first 2 rounds of the NFL draft to live up to his star rating. 4-stars should have to be a solid contributor for his college team for 3-4 years and get drafted in any round. That's my 2 cents.

The setup rankings use are, a 5 Star is supposed to equate 1st rd NFL talent, should expect ALL SEC minimum

4 star is NFL rounds 2-5 but obviously all 4 stars don’t get drafted, some 5 stars don’t as well, a 4 star should be starter.

5 ⭐️Starter, All-SEC
4 ⭐️ Starter
3 ⭐️ contribution from special teams up to being a starter, above that is icing

Stars are great for fans that follow their programs closely as we do, but it would be dumb for any coach to use the star method as a means to evaluate talent.....The best evaluators of talent rely heavily on the kids personality, competitiveness, what kind of teammate they would be, their leadership skills......along with their talent......not sure recruiting services consider those...

If a youngster comes in highly rated and is starting his sophomore year he cannot be a bust. The same is true in my head if say a 3 star or lower earns a starting position before his eligibility is up. If you're playing as a starter hard for me to see you as a bust, you may not be playing to potential but that's not a bust. A bust is like that juco OL Butch brought in that never lost his black stripe and never started a ball game and graduated.

A five star player should be a lock to go in the first 3 rounds of the NFL draft, a four star should get drafted or possibly undrafted free agent. Anything under a 3 star that gets drafted is a diamond in the rough besides maybe lineman, seems like there always a bunch of 3 star lineman that develop over time for teams.

I think this may have been part of the "Butch's" problem. He seemed to recruit by "stars".
