to have a chance at winning on Saturday. These “things” have happened all year, and they must end for our Vols to come out on top.

1. Get off the field on 3rd or 4th and long on defense multiple times.
2. No dropped or deflected passes, especially sure TDs.
3. Not scoring after turnovers, namely TDs.
4. Trying to score a TD every single time we have the ball until the very last second ticks off. No more slowing down, settling for FGs or punting if we have a chance at a TD.
5. No stupid momentum changing penalties when we are moving the ball, ie, false starts, personal fouls, etc.
6. Bonus. Do not run the ball straight up the middle on 3rd and long and/ or don’t throw long in the end zone 3 straight times when we need 5 yards to get a first down.

I’m not even going to mention reffing. We know it’s going to come into play, this is why we need to pick this game to clean up ALL of the issues above. If we don’t it’s going to be a long night

It’s called a near perfect game. Can’t say it’s happened this year but there is always, every season, that one game where everything clicks. Hopefully it’s this game against the Gumps. Better be or we will be tucking our tail.

To have a chance?

This ain't 2015-2020 Alabama. Kalen DeBoer is not Nick Saban, and Kane Wommack is an embarrassment of a defensive coordinator when it comes to dealing with spread offense.

Tennessee obviously needs to play well, but long gone are the days where the talent and coaching gap is so large that we need a perfect game to win. Hasn't been the case since 2022, and has only gotten easier now with Saban no longer there.

People acting like Bama didn't get boat raced by a mediocre FSU team and needed Vanderbilt to keep shooting itself in the foot to keep that game from going down to the wire. Tennessee will have to play a well below par game for them for Bama to run away with it.

Agree OP. CJH needs to extend his play sheet past the first three series unlike he did against Georgia. After that third series, it was like he just wanted to run the clock the next three and a half quarters.

Note #4 above was meant as “do Not think about NOT scoring a TD every time we have the ball.”

This. This. This. If you’re playing a warm up FCS opponent up by 60 and you just wanna run the clock out then fine. But if you’re playing SEC competition you score every drive possible and force them to stop it. No mercy. We will need every point possible to win Saturday. If we get the lead that conservative bullcrap ain’t gonna cut it.

The weird thing is he tries to score at the end of blowouts against lower level teams. Then he curls into a ball and tries to ride the clock out against SEC teams.

That's how I feel a bit. DeBoer is the wildcard in this game more than anything else.

I will say, the FSU game has been wiped from my brain. That was shear dumb luck for FSU and is typical of these week 1 matchups. I don't think Bama can be looked at as the same from that game.

TN’s defense has taken a major step backwards from 2024. They are near the bottom on a lot of defensive categories. They lead the nation in sacks. If I were CRG I would be telling the rest of the defensive coaches to get their shat together. I would also be asking for a huge salary increase. He deserves it.

We are 6 games into the season. We are what we are at this point. Very few teams have any type of huge turn-around at this point in the season. Our defense absolutely sucks between the 20's, BUT always seems to come up with a big sack or TO at just the right time. My bet is that will continue. I just hope we do whatever we did to stop Ark's running game in the 4th quarter. I think this game is going to be decided by how well Hood and Redmond play. If I'm DC... I load the box and take my chances in man coverage. MAKE Simpson play flawlessly. What do we have to lose? We are absolutely LOST in zone coverage and our LB's can't cover my 74 yo Mother.

I'm going to say if we get 2 of the 6 you point out, we win.
Get off the field on Defense when it's third down.
Stop the drive killing Offense penalties.

Do that and we can't be stopped because everything else falls into place.

We go three and out on the first possession…we’ll lose. Sorry couldn’t help myself 😆. Can’t let Alabama sustain those long clock eating drives too many times but I agree, getting off of the field on 3rd down and we have chance to have an impressive win.

How about we play the first road game under Heupel that we win as the under dog.

I would won't be happy if we lose but as OP implies we can't beat ourselves.

I agree, however unfortunately were in Tuscaloosa, number 5 is out of our control. The zebras are not our friends, especially in Tuscaloosa. Heck, we can't get calls at home.

7. Play our most talented guys at LB. Not the guys that "get lined up right"

Something on the order of @ LSU 2022.
