i'll go on record today, November 20th 2008 and say that we will not go down to the Swamp next year and beat Florida. No matter who is roaming the sidelines.

VolinthaATL is correct. Neither of us said UT would beat FLA next year.

All I was saying is we should at least be competitive fairly quickly with a good coach. I never said we would beat you guys next year. In other words, hopefully the games will not be over by halftime as they have been the past few years. That is all I was saying.

Well then I misunderstood you.

I guess, though, that it depends on your definition of "fairly quickly" because it seems to me that the talent gap is a lot larger, and more importantly deeper, than most people here will acknowledge.

Understand I am not sayiung UT has no good players. You've got a great one in Berry, for example. Wish we had him. But it just seems evident to me that the losing is a lot more than just because of conservative coaching, etc. It has been due in large part because you have not had the horses and that is a 2-3 year turnaround, even if everything goes right.

UT I am sure will get there and be formdiable once again, but folks need to settle in a little bit and give whoever comes in a chance to get things moving again. It isn't going to be overnight.

And if the UF plane crashes en route to the National Title game in January?

If Florida wins the NT and in the process Harvin has a huge run of last three games (FSU, 'bama, BCS) and decides to go, and if Tebow decides two national championships and a Heisman is enough for one day, then it is not inconceivable to me that Florida is gutted next year as far as top drawer starters.

We got folks to step in, yes, but if the whole offense left (like the defense did in '06) it makes games like 2009 UT-Florida a whole lot more interesting.

If Tebow stays for his senior year, fuhgedabout it.

And if both Tebow and Harvin stay, then you should assume another whuppin is in store.

yeah, because Tebow and Harvin is the hump that Tennessee can't get over when it comes to playing FLA...

Chavis is still trying to figure out why he couldn't cover WR's with DE's from back in the day when Spurrier was their...

Believe it or not the coaching gap is the biggest problem..

Tebow, Harvin and Spikes are all gone next season---why stay around, especially if they win another title this year. Without those 3, UT has a chance next year in G'ville with the right coach, who knows offense.
