I know most of you will flame this blog/article, however I think Matt Dixon and Tony Basilio’s position by position comparison is interesting. This isn’t really opinion it’s roster by roster, coach by coach comparison. You can debate the long term plans of each coach, however you can’t deny or avoid the third year facts. Offensive football has changed in the SEC has changed since CDD’s third year, however we had much more of a 2020 offense with Bray than we do with the one who wears #2.

Its really simple

If you take the rosters they both had (Dooley and Jones) and gave them to Pruitt hed have beaten more teams than the two of them combined.
People really should at least consider taking a step back and look at what they had on the field. Pruitt makes mistakes, the team makes some critical mental errors but lets be honest were talking about 1 football coach, a snake, and a lawyer.

Pruitt seems to be a better “football coach” because he speaks slowly and is relatable. However, what signs of being competent Have you seen?
1. roster management?

2. Defense? Right so the 3rd year of not being able to defend the middle of the field, recruit more than 1 linebacker or develop talent is a for sure sign.

3. Making great hires? 4 games and an $800,000 buyout, Friend, QB coach...

I want Pruitt to succeed, we need him to succeed. I don’t see any indication that he’s capable of succeeding. I like his frank nature, however the asparagus video might as well be his QB roster, he doesn’t appear to know what SEC QB’s or 2020 SEC offenses look like.

Look at everything in black and white, no emotion. We only have his games to judge, we just were housed by UK in Neyland for the first time in 35 years with the same 5th year QB that he’s not recruited over or developed.

Valid points but look at the makeup of what they had. Do you really think they had to work as hard as Pruitt?
Dobbs had full control and made chicken salad out of chicken shat 90% of the time
Bray had weapons all around and a OL that worked out.

They all played into the success of 2 coaches that werent really coaches.

Dobbs was amazing, Bray and his offense was fun to watch when we could run the ball. I’m coming off as trying to bash Pruitt and it wasn’t my original intent.

The QB is the most important position on the field. End of the day, Butch was able to recruit one that was a game changer and choose him over 2 other good QB options on the team. Pruitt and his staff can’t evaluate QBs or prep them to play.

We know exactly what Pruitt would have done with those rosters. He would have gone on national TV and said the only way he could win games is by recruiting better players.

Gotta nip it in the bud. If something's not working, no sense in having it affect the team...I'm siding w/ Pruitt on this one.

Proofs in the pudding. All about W/L So far the early indication is that we’ve taken a step back this year. Hopefully things turn around quickly

Devil's advocate, should Phil do the same if he has the same feeling? I don't know what went on with the DL coach but stuff is weird on the Hill.

Butchs 3rd team was best and it was mostly his players. That was the season thou when he realized he wasn’t big enough for the job. Choking on the 4th down call vs OU was the moment it was evident to me.

Pruitt is still playing more Butch guys & first year fill ins this season to convince me he’s the answer.

Battered Vol syndrome. It’s like taking up for the spouse that beats you. We’ve lost so much with so many different head coaches we don’t know what normal is anymore.

Geeze

When, when, when....

When will CJP be responsible for his damn job?

At first it was CBJ and now its JG...

At this point in his career as a HC and every singel day before as a HC he pretty much sucks. Maybe he can grow into one but so could have the last two...

He is a gump that is in iver his head...but he sounds like a football coach so that makes the masses happy.

But for real...at what point in his career will you finally say it is his own doings as a coach that he is responsible for the results of his team. Year 4 ? 5? 8? 20?
