360's Breaking Down??

Ok, I've been getting closer and closer to biting the bullet and buying a 360. All the GoW talk is getting to me. :p

However, I'm concerned about the durability of the new systems. My co-worker has gone through 6 (yes, SIX) 360's and a good friend of mine has also had technical problems with them.

What about everyone here? Have you had a 360 crap out on you? Are they building them more robustly now?

I'm not dropping $400 on something that's gonna bust and give me a head ache in 3 months... :ermm:

The first few shipments of 360's were very prone to overheating. I nearly had to replace mine, I think a few posters on here have... And I've also heard my share of horror stories about people going through 4-5 systems. No, it's definitley not the most stable machine, it's pretty fragile. You will have to take good care of it, give it plenty of ventilation and buy an intercooler for it. You should be safe then. And I'm sure they're better now than they were at launch.

As for GoW, don't buy a system for one game... $500 for one game? Seriously?

Only had mine a couple of months..no problems so far...I did buy the intercooler for it and keep it well vented just in case..love it so far.

BTW..GOW rules.:rock:

NC we play all the time. What is your tag. As far as the intercooler thing, dont let xbox know you have one. They may not honor the warrentee. I had mine crap out on me once but was back up in two weeks or so and it wasnt any trouble at all to get mine replaced for free none the less.

gamertag is ncgatorbait. I need to renew my subscription..hopefully I'll get it this weekend. Haven't played online much at all..been mostly single playering it...I started over and am in act 2 of Hardcore now.

If it craps out in the 3 months, MS will replace it for you.

If you're worried, buy an extended warranty. I had my launch unit replaced in October. Haven't had a single problem with the replacement unit since.

gatorbait, look at the 360 xbox sigs and look us up if you play tonite, I would absolutely love blowing a gator fan to hell tonight...no offense...haha

by the way, on topic, I have never had a problem with mine and I've played a good bit since last thanksgiving

I've had mine since launch and I've had absolutely no problems with it. I remember going through about 3 Dreamcasts though.

Maybe back in my younger days I didn't treat it all that well, but yea I went through a few. A couple of my friends had at least one go out on them. Maybe just bad luck.
