2 days before signing day..12 out of 40 of Scout's highest rated players

so which is it? Does a high ranking empower these kids to drag it out or do uncommitted kids get more stars to drive up recruiting interest?

30 percent of 5 stars haven't committed..... And we aren't getting any of them.

But to answer your question, a lot of these guys like doing the big signing day decision deal. These kids only get to do this once, so I say let them enjoy it to the fullest

I'd say it's a combination of the two: higher ranking kids having more offers and wanting to drag out the process in tandem with recruiting services wanting drama. Don't underestimate the power of selling subscriptions. At the end of the day, recruiting services are a business that want to make money. The result is star rankings being somewhat inconsistent/objective as it relates to prospects, with the goal being to drive interest as it relates to "top uncommitted prospects." If there's no intrigue/drama, these recruiting services would die out.

Very disappointed. I was really hoping this would be a "how many can we land on NSD" thread. Or even a "we are TENNESSEE! WHY AREN'T WE IN ON THESE GUYS????!!!" thread.

too quiet this year

IMO a nice change of pace. Before, we had spaces to take, and very few takers.

Now, the question is who gray shirts, who goes elsewhere because we are over the limit, or what is the strategy for taking them all?

Looking over our list, I feel better about the future of the program than I have in 10 years. As Gene Hackman said in "Hoosiers", I support this team for who they are. And I am not concerned about who said no.

Could be that they are PRE---Madonnas.

A lot of it is recruiting sites/ ESPN promise these kids that if they commit on NSD, they'll let them announce on their network. It keeps people buying their subscriptions, gathers ratings for different fan bases across the country, and the kid gets his moment on TV. They purposely get kids to prolong it

There will be some significant changes in the recruiting class rankings after NSD.

Yep. There's a good chance we drop down to 7th-10th in the rankings, especially since many of those 5*s will commit to schools like LSU, Bama, UGA, UF, A&M, etc.

Man, I'm just really glad that we don't have "Big Fish" prima-donnas waiting till the end to announce. Where would we be if we didn't have the Vic Whartons, Jalen Hurds, Todd Kellys, and others who signed on early and encouraged all the other early commits to do likewise?!:good!:

5 Stars pretty well know that a coach will make room for them. Others worry more about securing their spot.

Fortunately this year our big fish - have already been reeled in, are attending class, and going through workouts. Much better situation than the Dooley big fish that always were landed by some other school.

Boom!

Need an early signing period in CFB

I agree... the amount of drama queens is off the charts this year... what is funny is even 3 and 4 stars are in the act.

What these kids don't understand is they don't always control everything... Hootie Jones found out the hard way of playing the game.

UT is in very good shape this year... most teams are pretty much guessing at this point.

Only 18 of the Rivals 100 were uncommitted last I looked. Depends on the listing I guess. Scout's garbage, IMO, so I never pay attention to what they show.

To me, it seems like there are fewer unknowns heading to this NSD than there has been in years. Not just UT, but CF as a whole.
