3 Reason Why UCLA Beats Tennessee

OK, :post-4-1090547912:. I swear, this writer must be doing the best crack cocaine journalist money can buy, because if he thinks that UCLA is going to roll into Knoxville and knock us off, he's off his damn rocker. Atmosphere is going to be way too much, Tennessee will drum UCLA and then we can start worrying about possibly getting beat because then we start to play real competition in the SEC and only in the SEC.

Football: 3 reasons why UCLA will beat Tennessee
September 8th, 2009, 12:14 pm · 2 Comments · posted by Al Balderas, staff writer
Going into hostile territory like Neyland Stadium isn’t a lost cause for the UCLA football team but there isn’t a lot of room for error for the young and still improving Bruins.

The Raiders chimed in with their thoughts on Vols coach Lane Kiffin, and I’m sure UCLA fans are hoping that the NFL team knows what it’s talking about.

1. Experience still counts for something.

About the only part of UCLA’s team that doesn’t lack experience is its defense. Yes, the defensive unit was a bit too excited at the start of last Saturday’s game against San Diego State but once things settled down, it proved to be the Bruins’ strong point. The Bruins held the Aztecs to 238 passing yards (most of which came in the first quarter), and 39 rushing yards. The defense is ready for its next challenge and the category it’s chosen is the University of Tennessee, which amassed more than 600 yards of offense against hapless Western Kentucky.
2. Knoxville…we have a problem.

And it could be overconfidence.

Not to say that the Volunteers are or will be overconfident as they head into Saturday’s game against the Bruins but there is a pattern, and it does involve UCLA.

The Volunteers were on their way to victory at the Rose Bowl last season when a fourth-quarter turnaround sent the game into overtime, and Kai Forbath kicked the game-winning field goal.

The Volunteers, playing their first game for head coach Lane Kiffin, coasted to a 63-7 victory over Western Kentucky. Eleven true freshmen played in last Saturday’s contest so you’ve got to think they’re living large in Knoxville. Will the Volunteers’ coaching staff be able to get everyone back into prep mode, or will the team strut into Saturday’s contest expecting another easy victory? After all, players are only human.
3. Head coach Lane Kiffin is out to destroy the University of Tennessee.

If you believe what the Oakland Raiders say, then it’s got to be true.

Shortly after Kiffin took the job at Tennessee, ESPNs Outside the Lines did a piece on Kiffin and the controversy that he created for himself by taking jabs at some of the other SEC schools and their coaches.

When ESPN asked the Raiders for their thoughts on their former head coach, the NFL team released a statement saying: Lane Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans, and he lied to the media. He will try to destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders…

A 63-7 victory over Western Kentucky last week didn’t seem all that destructive to the Tennessee program, so perhaps the demise of the university’s football program will start this week.

This should just be major fuel to the fire, can we send this BS to Kiffin and the team, God, I'd hate to see what the score would be then

I think we can be sure that our staff will not let us get complacent and overconfident based on last weeks game. CLK seems to be totally focused on how to improve on mistakes, not resting on what went right against WKU. They are desperate and grasping at anything they can think of. Get ready for the beatdown.

Sounds like wishful thinking. That was awful. Any reference to the raiders makes that column laughable.

1. UCLA will not contain our RB's.

2. Over confidence? I don't think so. After the over time loss the only thing on our minds is retribution.

3. If you believe Al Davis then you need to be committed right along with him.

Yeah the Raiders thing made me chuckle. They will not move the ball in Neyland too loud for freshman qb

:clapping:

1. Ucla will get beat on the ground, and I mean beat up physically, then Tennessee will go right over the top with passes, the funny thing in the article, was when it was talking about the Ucla defense had a great defensive night, holding San Diego St. to 228 yards passing I believe. First off, that is a joke for defense, and it was San Diego St. God, I never thought revenge could be so damn sweet.

2. There is no over confidence, CLK I'm willing to bet told the players that they beat WKU, whoopety freakin do, I'm sure CLK has the business face on as always and Tennessee is going to look very sharp and start finally catching praise from ESPN :eek:hmy:, oh yes I said it, ESPN.

3. I couldn't agree with you anymore than that, Al Davis is a washed up prict, don't know anything, piece of crap. If you fall in line with him, well I'd say it's just about like falling in line with Satan over the Lord, Ucla is just damn desperate, looking for anything they can, because they know how inexperienced they are and how bad that butt whoopin is going to be, hell, they might as well just not make the trip, because when halftime rolls around, they are going to be wishing they didn't, take that to the bank.

GO BIG ORANGE:td:

The one thing in the article that I do worry over is the overconfidance thing--I believe the staff will address it all week but this isn't going to be a pushover game. Things could not have been better last week but what do we do if we have 3 quarters of tough football? I think the best part of last week was overcoming and playing through the first quarter turnovers but can we do it it the problems occur against a far better team over more than just one quarter. I think we win but it isn't the stomping that so many predict.

Tennessee will not come in over confident. They can't afford to. Last year's loss was an embarrassment and they know it.The only thing on UT's mind is the utter destruction of UCLA. IMO
