1) I can see the first part.

2) Don't know if I can see the second part.

Especially since you want to have the new coach in place by the end of the tournament.

Why wait the 3 weeks for Hamilton

Maybe they trust him to oversee the search, but if I'm a coach, I want to be hired by the guy I'm going to work for, not his predecessor. It's all about having an advocate.

If the plan is there to fire Hamilton they should do it now. Are you saying that either we won't hire a b-ball coach during that time or a lame duck AD will make the hire?

What I'm wondering is who will conduct the new coaching search? Hamilton (if or not fired) or somebody else?

JimmyHyams: UT has informed Bruce Pearl he'll be fired. Buyout was hangup over weekend. Chancellor Jimmy Cheek made the call, I'm told.

Does a prospective coach want to be a "Hamilton hire"? Maybe it's just me but I'd rather come in the door free and clear of anything with the name of Hamilton.

Makes sense to delay Hamilton since we will be in the HC market . . . .again. I don't know of a coach that wants to have to wait in the lobby while his possible AD/boss finshes up his interview with UT.

I would imagine there are many people who will agree with my sentiment. Since Pearl has arrived TN has gone to 6 straight tournaments. When did we last see the excitement surrounding this program that we have witnessed during this man's tenure? How many times did TB arena sell out? Do we really want to go back to the Buzz, Kevin, Don eras in which we never had anything to be excited about.

We have a coach who is charismatic, full of energy and most of all loved by the fanbase, his players and the parents of the players. Pearl is one of the few coaches I have ever seen to interact with the fans the way he does.

With all that TN has been through in all sports of late I think Hamilton would be a much easier loss than that of Bruce Pearl. Especially after his not so timely statement about Pearl last week. So what if Pearl is suspended for a year. The program will have a better chance under him than anyone that replaces that man. I understand he made a terrible mistake. Pressure can do that to any man. Tressel, Calhoun, the list goes on and on. What about all the programs who do not get caught? I doubt we would ever have to worry about anything like this happen again, unlike Kiffin's multiple allegations.

Coach Pearl, if you happen to read this......Thank you for everything you have done for the University I love. By the way, Coach Fulmer would be an excellent replacement for Hamilton. It just seems to me the University has been out of control since Hamilton's arrival.

Any thoughts?

I don't which is more sad.............Pearl being fired or Hamilton NOT being fired! I fear we're going to regret this. We'll never find another coach the 'bought in' and loved UT men's basktball like Pearl did.
