I am a lawyer, 56 years old, and have seen the good and the bad for UT football. I can assure 3 things about the next year of UT football. I hope the young guys on the board read the first comment over and over....

1: 18 and 19 year old kids are not supposed to be stars. Too many posters are writing off people like Neal, Hughes, Rogers, etc... because they didn't change the world in their first 2 seasons. Well, let me remind you of a few more who didn't light the world on fire: Travis Henry (4 Total Yards as Freshman), Robert Meachem, Dante Stallworth, John Henderson, Albert Haynesworth, Jason Witten, etc... I could go way back but these are just a couple recent vols who took a year or two to develop. Heck, remember a guy named David Pollack for UGA... Didn't even step on the field until his second year.

2: Taureen Poole will be the starting running back and that's a good thing. This guy ran for 5 yds a carry and 1000 yards behind an anemic passing attack and the worst oline in 2 decades. There is reason why players wanted him to start over Bryce Brown and there is no way in HELL Marlin Lane will even push him. Neal has some ability and could be a player at some point, but don't expect too much this year. Also keep in mind that Poole was injured for a couple of games.

3: Concerning impending sanctions: Dooley is god-sent. I can assure you lawyers and those who work for the NCAA are human. Dooley is already recognized as a class act and his image will undoubtably help our cause (not that I think football punishments will be severe in any regard).

Travis Henry (4 Total Yards as Freshman)........He had more kids than that his freshman year.

Why would you doubt? Anyone willing to accept that type of stigma is probably telling the truth.

What's the point in prefacing the post with his line of work? I think I should start topics and say things like, "I'm a doctor, and here's what I think of the Vols."

The point was to qualify the third comment about lawyers and official matters being subject to human appeal.

Sorry if that was not communicated well enough.

1 & 3 I completely agree with. Your a little too sure on Lane not pushing Poole. If I were betting, I'd put my money on Poole. But you just never can tell if the lightbulb will come on and Neal or Lane has a breakout year. Great post though!

I am a wealthy oil tycoon, 29 years old, and have seen many football games in my day. I can assure this much about UT football next year:

1. Zach Rogers and Rajion Neal have no business being compared to Robert Meachem and Travis Henry.

2. Poole's first name is Tauren, not Taureen.

3. Many of those who work for the NCAA are human. Many members of UT's coaching staff are also human. This common ground should definitely help our cause.

I'm not a lawyer, but I am quite hopeful that #3 has some merit. Along those lines, I am surprised that Hamilton hasn't been dismissed or even reprimanded. Keeping a guy around that had major violations in the two main sports occur simultaneously on his watch doesn't exude a high level of seriousness about cleaning up the program. Hopefully CDD's integrity will be enough to get some mercy on the football side.
