1. Vols came out of the T with what I thought was an attitude and fired up. Something I didn't see at the So. Miss game. It was good to see them play with emotion!!

2. Offensive Line- IMO, the second team gets a better push. All rushing TDs the second O-line was in there. The second team still has starters McNeil-C and Chris Scott but he's moved from guard to tackle. Parker and Young are taken out. Inserted are Vlad Richard and McClendon. Richard was just pancaking his guy all night long and he was just playing with such emotion and trying to get his team-mates fired up along with the crowd.

3. Jon Heffney- He played a horrible game. Missed tackle after tackle. He looks like he is playing scared! He avoids contact whenever possible. On a scoring drive by ASU in the third quarter he missed four tackles that should have stopped the RB for 5yds or less but he didn't wrap up and the RB got 10 to 12 yds :banghead2:. And punt returns. Does he even know how to go north or south rather than east or west, C'mon! And he almost fumbled a punt. Hef is a weak link on this team this year.

Vlad and Jacque will got more and more PT at the guard spots because of that push they create.

I don't know what heffney's problem is. He's been here for 4 years now and he has never been this bad.

I'm fine with the East-West stuff, it's the South that most concerns me

Yea, He knows how to go south. But missed tackles are everywhere on this defense. Do not know why they have not corrected this in practice. Week in and week out, the same stuff.

Maybe he will have a breakout game against UGA. I would really like to see Rogan returning kicks. We don't need our starter hurt even if he isn't playing good.

The last guy I would expect this from before the season started.

I was watching Bledsoe co. vs. sequatchie co. Friday night and was inpressed how the little kids could tackle. I was also wondering how these little white farms kids could be taught to tackle better than nationally recruited, big-time coached monsters.

Seems he used to be the sure tackle in the secondary. And I've always thought of Hef as a good hitter . . . this year he does seem tentative. He needs a big game to get his head back on straight.

I'd like to try Coker, Rogan or someone else taking punts.

too much pressure responsiblity and the draft. This is a classic example of how players can fall from grace. He is playing not to get injured and without 110% effort

1. coker give us a better chance at running game, hold defense captivated.
2. ainge...career best, great job.
3. creer and coker in the same backfield looks good and innovative...we need more of that!

ainge shoulda had 400 yards passing if rogers could catch. i don't understand him really, he'll make a great catch and then drop easy ones

1. Yes, defense was, let me be tactful, SUB PAR
2. Special teams was, let me be tactful..If they were playing for poop they couldnt get a smell
3. Ainge threw a lot of bad passes, noticeably way too high passes
4. 4 or 5 "would-be" interceptions that hit our D in the hands and dropped.

With respect to #1, it's easy to look fired up when you are far more physical and talented than your opponent at every single position. That's why UT looks okay against second rate teams and gets destroyed by good teams.

With respect to #3, Hefney did this alot last year too. I don't know how so many people missed it. He often dives right in front of the feet of a running back or receiver so that he doesn't have to actually hit them. If a receiver is trying to catch a ball, then Hefney will hit that guy. However, if the running back or receiver already has possession of the ball, Hefney seeks to avoid contact with that player. Him being hyped as a potential All-American candidate was an absolute joke.

I've noticed that Hefney seems to go for a lot of "shoe shine" tackles where he lowers his head and dives at the feet instead of wrapping up.

Precisely. However, he often ends up a half-yard to a yard away from the player when he "tries" to dive at their feet. He's trying to appear to make an effort at tackling the guy while actually trying to avoid contact. I can't stand Hefney. He's a prime example of why UT's defense sucks so bad.

Our defense it pitiful. At this point, I think it is what it is.

Our LBs are tremendously disappointing this year. I didn't much from anyone else.

You've said "Arky" a few times the last 2 days, and I need to let you know we played Arkansas State, not Arkansas.

Correct. "Arky" is the team that we're going to play toward the end of the season that is going to rush for 300+ yards on us.

Arky may get 1000 in the one game against us. You guys beat me to the Heffney thing, he's just fallen off the map....you say he did the same thing last year and you may be right, I honestly cannot remember, but you are spot on about him this year. Scared of contact and playing not to get hurt and will somebody let him know that a fair catch is still allowed.

Perhaps because they were tackling other "little white farm kids". :eek:lol:
